Couldn’t spend it in a 100 lifetimes , can’t see the point of all that wealth when there’s so many ppl struggling Most of that wealth is based on an estimate of how much bet365 is worth they don't have that as cash sitting in their bank account. You do realise that applies to all the others too?

Bottom half finish just avoiding relegation - hopeless....... According to hyaduck, bet365 would be worth more than Elon if they just replaced Denise with any foreign manager If using an exclamation mark got you a pound hyadick would have more dosh than the Coates family.

For the avoidance of doubt, that is (assuming we are using a thousand million as a billion):
£8,640,000,000
Or another way to think of it is 1 million times a thousand. Eight and a half times...
Insane figures
The average wage in stoke is apparently around £30k so that's 288,000 annual salarys.
The most overpriced expensive house in London is only £250,000,000 (Caudwells incredibly tacky looking place) so you could get at least 30 of those...
The interest on that money alone would be £216,000,000...
A few months ago I was in the one of the galleries in Edinburgh and whilst mooching about happened to come across the contributors list or whatever its called. Low and behold who should be mentioned near the bottom, our very own Denise Coates. Her and the business have obviously done incredibly well, as far as we know she's one of the few that pays all her taxes, still gives a hell of a lot to charity and even keeps the men in the family gainfully employed. It just goes to show all the rubbish about the rich need to have their taxes cut all the time or they won't generate wealth is nonsense. Also however she has benefitted massively from a cheapish labour force in SOT (but we now need more skills) and she was very lucky to be able to get a family backed £50m loan to take a risk on bet365 starting out so its not without some privileges. They're lucky, we're lucky but I still think the club could take a leaf out of the PVFC book for working in the community and do a lot more...

Well as none of the others own any of bet 365 pretty sure it doesn't But yes of course all estimates of wealth are the same but the OP made the point no one could spend that in a 100 lifetimes I just made the point they don't have that in cash.

If we got promoted and stayed up do you think the Coates family would start splashing the cash?

If we got promoted and stayed up do you think the Coates family would start splashing the cash? I'm not convinced. In 2018 when we got relegated they were at £5bn and rising. We were in a 'sustainability' program wernt we? I think they have no appetite to go mental like some other clubs. I think the 'if we could we would' is used now to disguise appalling management of the club as a business.

Spot on, mate (as usual). They have the wealth to spend on SCFC but aren’t allowed to by restrictive rules that forbid their wealth spreading from SCFC to other clubs in transfer fees. It is lunacy. I'm not convinced about that. Other clubs seems to manage to get around FFP rules. With the Coates money and influence they should be able to get us some big sponsors and increased revenue without it coming from them directly. Chelsea and Man City got away splashing the cash, although the rules are stricter now. Newcastle will no doubt benefit from their wealthy owners. PSG seems to be able to spend whatever they want and lose 100s millions per season without any repercussions. Basically when you have money you can find loopholes if you really want to. Saying that, I'm not convinced the Coates family have much ambition for club. Price freezes have been great, but when we were in the Prem we should have expanded the stadium after a couple of seasons of selling out every home game. In the end we had that pitiful 3k extension done in the last season (or 2nd last). There's not much point having super wealthy owners if they're seemingly ok accepting mid-table mediocrity. I think we missed the boat when we were in the Prem and could still be there if we had invested more at the time.

How come other clubs can, say Man City for instance? or is there a different criteria? Serious question

Under Rowett maybe but not now Stoke do far more in the community than Vale do, not a slight on Vale as Stoke have the resources to do so.

I am waiting to see what happens to Burnley's and Leed's complaint about Everton being allowed to spend 3x more than allowed under FFP regulation in the Premier where the cap is a cool £1.3 million and they've spent more than 3x that. Of course they are citing Covid as their excuse.

Yet we refused to pay a seven figure fee to get a manager in to replace Hughes. Baffling business logic, and ultimately relegated us.
