In the Tony Adams book ‘Sober’ he certainly pulls no punches, it’s mostly about his recovery from alcoholism but there’s plenty of footy stuff too. I particularly like his assessment of pre Wenger Arsenal and the Wenger Arsenal years. He says previously we were built to take on the likes of Stoke City but once Wenger arrived we became a champions league outfit. A backhanded compliment? or a criticism of Stoke?

Definitely a dig at Wenger and I am no Wenger fan but
With Wenger 1996-2018 3 League titles 7 FA Cups
In the 22 years pre Wenger 1973-95 2 League titles 2 FA Cups 2 League Cups 1 UEFA Cup
If I was an Arsenal fan I would take the Wenger years

He seemed blind to a decent box-to-box midfielder after Viera left and didn't sign a good enough goalkeeper after Lehmann until Cech eventually arrived. Admittedly Viera was almost impossible to replace, but Wenger didn't get anywhere near close enough for a Premier League challenging team. I loved Wenger's pantomine villain act while we were in the Premier League though. I agree that if I was an Arsenal fan, I would take those league titles and FA Cups.

There were two Wenger eras the first one they were hard as nails and would have crucified us. 1996 to about 2001.
The latter Wenger years were tippy tippy bollocks meh.

Sorry I was being sarcastic as the semis vs arseholes 70-71 & 71-72. The period in question was 73-95.

I like Arsene Wenger. Great manager. And a Grade A cunt. Set out to wreck Shawcross's career, denigrated us as a club because they weren't able to cope with a team who didn't lie down and let them play their version of tiki taka which didn't work anyway. Spent his career pointing at others while his side had the most red cards of any other pl club. And now trying to fuck international football with his world Cup every 2 years shit - a vile front man to FIFAs greed.

Didn’t MON moan about long throws when we lost to Birmingham last year? They all get up to the same crap to hide from their own errors. In my opinion, Wenger never replaced adequately Campbell (or Keown). They also tried to replace Dixon with players like Luzhnyi. The only change of the guard from that era he really got right was Winterburn for Cole. Losing Viera and also some of the best defensive players in the country over a 5 or so year period and not replacing them made Arsenal a very week touch. They never spent enough to truly dominate with tiki taka, but weren’t strong enough at the back to hold out against Stoke (and Bolton before us).

He never saw anything that it suited him not to see. He went after Shawcross for what was clearly an accident - the pundits at the game said as much but by the Monday the London media had changed the narrative. That probably fucked his England career (helped by the cunt Hodgson) and his chances of a big move. He was and is a cowardly twat who in the end was more happy to lose playing his outdated shit than change, blaming everyone but himself for it. He looked good for a while but when everyone else started eating pasta for dinner the game was up. Don't let time fade the memory, he was a complete shit.
