So where would you stand if you had transgender male to females wanting to play in the WSL? I’d imagine it won’t take long before it happens. Surely if we need to be all embracing of the ladies game they should be allowed to play. If not wouldn’t that be showing the same form of predjudice / sexism you talk about. I think most clubs would hope that the first trans player they sign is a 6 foot 3 inch goalkeeper who would be keeping clean sheets every week. Can you imagine a whole team of trans players, they would easily win the world cup. Does anyone think it strange that trans men don't seem to wish to compete in mens' competitions? Trans women play Trans women and Trans men play Trans men. That's fair.

I think that’s a whole different debate that tbh I don’t feel equipped to wade into. I’d say it’s pretty relevant though. We’re in a world where we’re supposed to be all encompassing around equality and supporting minority however it affects the status quo or many years of history.

They-the trans activists-wont be happy until gender identity and trans rights trump those of people who accept their biological sex at birth.

Obsurd. I'm sure if she does and when Kane retakes she won't get a mention.

Funny thing to say. Just this week we've had Ronny smashing a kid's phone in temper, seen wild celebrations by players and fans of a 94th minute not-even-a-winner in a meaningless match (I was among those celebrating, I like emotion), Chelsea players devastated by a narrow defeat in Europe, and Bayern fans blarting when they went out. I would imagine he has now lost the dressing room, you know what those emotional women are like when you upset them

Amazing what cheap/free tickets can do for attendance It's still decent to be fair. Doubt we could pull a fraction of that even with free tickets and far higher quality of football.

50,000 free tickets given out to club members. Don't know what price the tickets that were sold went for. Remember this is a champions league semi final. Hardly fair to compare with a league game against a lowly rival. Still impressive, but let's see their next league game attendance.

2021–22 season Highest home attendance 91,648 vs VfL Wolfsburg (22 April 2022) Lowest home attendance 842 vs Sporting de Huelva (12 January 2022) Average home league attendance 7,959 (including Joan Gamper) Biggest win Sevilla 1–10 Barcelona If the Real Madrid game was omitted then they have an average home gate of approx 2,000.

Well Barcelona’s population is something like 15x that of Stoke so I’m not sure you can draw a meaningful comparison to what we might / might not be able to pull in

Prices for Chelsea
WSL HOME MATCH TICKET PRICES £9 adults £1 juniors and seniors £0 personal assistant
FA CUP HOME MATCH TICKET PRICES £9 adults £1 juniors and seniors £0 personal assistant
FA WSL CUP HOME MATCH TICKET PRICES £3 adults £1 juniors and seniors £0 personal assistant
Not sure what a personal assistant is but that’s very cheap in comparison to the mens game.
Highest home attendance 3,330 (vs. Arsenal, 11 February 2022, FA WSL) Capacity is 4850
Which suggests even when they’re practically giving tickets away they can’t fill AFC Wimbledons stadium.
I’m amazed that with the revenue they’re getting that they can still afford to keep running. Like mens football the majority must come from TV.

People saying that Ellen White’s record shouldn’t be compared to Rooney’s but in the next breath are comparing the quality and attendances to the men’s game. Make up your minds.
For me, it’s a different flavour of the same sport. I go to both - key difference is that you won’t see my young daughters at a Stoke away match. Thankfully, the women’s game doesn’t yet have the pleasure of flare-throwing, coke-snorting, pint-wasting Herberts just yet.
It doesn’t generate the same angst and stress levels when watching it but I still find it enjoyable.
The Euros are taking place in the summer. Ticket sales (not give aways) seem to have gone well and hopefully a good performance by England will have the knock-on effect of growing the game more. Despite the unprecedented high exposure of recent years, it’s still a growing sport.

I agree with what you’re saying they are 2 very different sports in there own right and they shouldn’t be compared. It’s the media that appear to be putting the 2 together in the way that they’re marketed and promoted. I’d say that currently the womens game gets more PR than the Championship at this time despite far less interest and crowds which makes its promotion look a bit forced. I don’t have an issue with the womens game or people wanting to play or watch it. It’s the way it’s pushed by the media at the cost of the lower leagues as being some superior package that gets my goat. How about they promote the lower leagues and grass roots more and stop clubs going into administration. If they marketed them more they might just save a few clubs.

I know it seems to be the trend to knock every bit of positivity around the women's game by bringing them crashing back down to earth but that's the second time they've played in front of 90,000+ now which shows the potential certainly in that city if nothing else........

Like it or not the media and in particular social media have a huge impact on trends and peoples thinking in all aspects of life. Of course one has more money to push ideals than the other.
