Who are these 15 goal plus strikers we can realistically sign? Wouldnt mind us signing Maja. If he, Brown and Baker can all hit double figures or there abouts then a good mix of goals. Add Powell and maybe Campbell's goals to that.

If MON reverts back to 433 like he said is his favoured tactic and only plays 352 because of personal, then a front 3 of Campbell (left inside forward), Maja, Brown (right inside forward) might work with the likes of Baker, a DM and Powell being the link up man.

Campbell has proved he can’t play on the left. His best position in right wing which allows him to cut onto his left foot. Anyway, it’s pretty obvious O’Neill is testing the players he wants to keep and neither Maja or Campbell is one of them.

He played very well on the left of the front three more than once before his injury

The situation around Campbell is a bit ridiculous. Surely we should be playing him now to get him fitter for next season? He's looked sharp in his last few cameos too. He's the best striker on the books by a mile. Best on the right. And more effective on the left than DWP presently. It doesn't really add up. Maybe Campbell has said that he wants to leave? No idea, but a possibility.

Get him playing and scoring and sell him closer to peak value. That has to be the model unless or until we can get promoted.

Obviously on his way back and carrying weight. Is ok saying games get him fit but so does training and a pre season maybe. His performance don't justify him playing so far

There isn't much doubt that his overall contribution has been disappointing. He'd been training most of his life but when he broke through his stamina was a problem. The more he played the less of a problem it became. Also consideration has to be given to protecting your asset value.

Is a massive injury to get over but he doesn't even look fit srfter all these months since his comeback

Is a massive injury to get over but he doesn't even look fit srfter all these months since his comeback It's very difficult to know what's inside Campbell's head given the small stress injury he had a couple of months back or so. It seems to me he's taken a step backwards since then. On the note of the thread title.. Maja played some very good balls to give players running through excellent chances and I've not seen any other of our strikers do so that effectively. If he can keep up that sort of play he has to be worth a punt at the right price, as far as I'm concerned.

As fans let's take some accountability here as start empowering him to be better. Stop the booing of players it doesn't work. Him standing around was a single lapse of judgement Interesting interview with Granit Xhaka on the BBC about being booed by fans www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61093079

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-news-rumours-6840981You must have been pleased with Josh Maja's performance as a sub last weekend?O'Neill: I thought Josh and Fletch, between the two of them, gave a really good centre-forward performance. That's what we need. Because of the running demands it often takes two players to do that. You see it regularly, even with the top teams. You see Liverpool and Jota and Firmino sharing the minutes and that's what you need. Particularly in a league like ours when you play so often it would be unrealistic to expect the striker to play 90 minutes week after week after week. It's really pleasing for Josh. I thought he showed really good quality on a number of occasions. He's not had that many chances in games but overall his play has been of a really high standard.

Him standing around was a single lapse of judgement Interesting interview with Granit Xhaka on the BBC about being booed by fans www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61093079Yes interesting and good to get this insight. Unless anyone has experienced this, I imagine it's impossible to know what it is like to be booed by your own fans in an intense, enclosed space, where supporters supposed to be supporting you. It's not very common and that probably makes it all the worse. Some might comment that these are professionals but its like public humiliation on a worldwide stage (in this case) and I imagine if it's even at Stoke the player could feel a huge psychological impact on a big stage. It's bad enough at work when you feel 2 or 3 people don't much like you, but thousands?

Yes I think the most telling comment is near the end when he asks fans to remember that for three hours on a Saturday he's a footballer but for the rest of the week he's a normal family man like us. The argument that he earns enough doesn't hold much credence when you remember he has the same feelings as the rest of us and desperately wants to please the fans of his club.
