Oh I know but it’s cute when they’ve been largely beyond poor, they might have short memories 😂 Not really Ok, good performances wouldn’t receive ear cupping etc mate if it hadn’t preceded bad performances and subsequently getting grief. Otherwise, what are they cupping ears at? Adulation? No.

A large part of UK society expects everything on a plate these days and with the recent time in the Premier League and debacle of the past few years, I think both things have crept into the matchday (lack of) atmosphere at home. I missed the first half against Barnsley, but there was definitely a period in the second half where I thought we were good, and there wasn't a lack of effort. It's an awkward situation because at times, the team have needed to show more to help generate an atmosphere. But on the other hand, the atmosphere at home doesn't help the team, and it could be a reason why we generally seem a better team away. I said a few weeks ago that I didn't think the malaise around the club had lifted, and it never will at this rate. I hope we keep faith with O'Neill and if we're not decimated by injuries again, believe we'll be challenging for promotion next season. That is a rather tenuous analogy. I prefer something less complicated. We have some of the best players in the league and arguably the worst team. This chopping and changing the lineup and formation is a difficult to fathom, unless you consider MON has run out of ideas and is just throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping something sticks. The fact that he has admitted more than once that he only considers Stoke’s plan and doesn’t study the opposition suggests he’s either a good poker player or not doing his job.

Whatever you think of the manager and the team, you support them during the match at the very least, through thick and thin, that’s why we are called supporters. Over 50% of the people there tonight are not true supporters in my eyes. Some of the things I heard were shocking, what must the players be thinking, it’s certainly not going to inspire them. Sacked in the morning, we’re fucking shit, songs about players from 10 years ago??? I don’t get it. Support the team or don’t bother coming, you’d be much better staying at home. See if it improves at Peterborough. I’ll be there supporting, I hope you will too….. I won’t hold my breath Could not agree more. Our support was embarrassing. We concede a goal and the "supporters" turn at the first opportunity. Constant drivel of dreadful negative songs/chanting. The culture is appalling. I used to love going to away matches and just chatting football to folk around me. This year every game I have been surrounded by drunken louts who don't watch the match, use dreadful language and are in their own selfish world oblivious to a good portion of proper supporters who want to enjoy the game supporting their team. I will be there tomorrow supporting my team.

I don’t think it was just the Barnsley game where fans were pissed off but the months of utter shit turned out by ONeill and if bad language upsets you then maybe you should take up watching bowls , chess , badminton etc 🎣

The range of songs these days is pretty embarrassing I have to say, what happened to the old classics like "Oh when the reds" and "We'll be with you" and Delilah but properly once or twice not milked to death and devoid of any enthusiasm? And these "how shit must you be........." type chants are so tedious, I mean we were singing them when we'd just won 4 out of 5 away games FFS. Even belting out the Ricardo Fuller, Matty Etherington, Abdoulay Faye songs of yesteryear create a decent positive atmosphere. You see fans teams who create an atmosphere even through times of adversity and our away crowds have generally done that. The fans can do it pre-game in the concourse for half an hour whilst throwing beer around so I'm sure they can do it in their seats as well.........

Cracking support this by the way, and hopefully we'll be behind the players from the off and creating an atmosphere like we used to in the old terrace with the low roof.......

I get incredibly frustrated because WBWY should be our best song. Unlike Delilah (which is a cultural oddity) WBWY is actually OUR song. It could be sung perpetually on a loop but it gets killed by the clapping. I don’t know when exactly the clapping between the “CITY” spread to the rest of the song, but it kills it dead. It’s some form of collective retardation but what can you do? Similar to how Delilah was originally sung slow and hauntingly, whereas now it’s like a scooter remix. In fact Delilah has been like that for a long time now. I can remember taking a few drubbings from Cardiff at the Brit around 03-06 period when we were still rivals, and one night they started singing it to taunt us and sang it way better than we were even way back then.
