I'll be renewing. Not because I'm particularly enamoured with the football on display or that I find it hard to cast aside something that's been a consistent part of my life for 30 years.
The main reason is that my windscreen ice scraper broke last year, I can't be arsed to buy another, and those little red and white striped season cards make a more than adequate makeshift ice remover on a frosty winter's morn.
(I've tried to use a store loyalty card to remove the ice from my car windshield before but it only got 10% off 😉)

Can't blame people choosing not to tbh. Money's tight and SCFC are making a pretty rubbish job at trying to entertain people.

I've had the decision taken out of my hands somewhat, my Mrs has been diagnosed with cancer, so we're having to give it a miss next year, but I was 50 50 anyway with the price of fuel and a 170 mile round trip, watching the shite we are churning out saps the enjoyment out of the day.

Gave up my season ticket after years of watching beloved city. Felt I needed to spend more time with them went on Saturday and I have to say it has been the best decision I have made. Stress levels so much lower and the reality of no matter how much support we give to this club, the return is so poor.

I despair at the fickleness of our support Why is it fickle? For better for worse, if that is good enough for something as trivial as marriage it must surely apply to supporting your team!

For better for worse, if that is good enough for something as trivial as marriage it must surely apply to supporting your team! I agree and I will renew. But if the people around me didn't and the football was as bad as it has been this season then I'd struggle with it. The Luton game for instance was a great laugh because the gallows humour was tremendous. Taking the piss out of the players, each other and I haven't laughed so much in ages. And outright abuse aimed at the players but I don't see that as a bad thing (as you can well imagine) when it's deserved, as it currently is. Take that away and it'd be a struggle. I live 5 minutes from a none league side and it's a much better experience watching them than us at the moment. The club have to be careful because the home matchday experience is poor and it's poor because of the things the club controls. That has to change or they will lose people.

I'll renew again for me and my kids (one of them is away at Uni but comes back intermittently)
The match itself is 90 mins of joy/misery (more the latter) but its also part of a bigger day out - Pub for 12ish, few beers with mates I only see at the match nowadays, bit of pool / darts with the kids, watch the early match, coach journey with KBSCSC coaches and gas with other mates, ground for 2ish, couple more beers with friends, ex colleagues, folk from adult and kids football on the concourse
The match is (ahem) a feature of the day and either fills my weekend with happiness, meh or doom
Coach journey home to dissect, laugh, grumble, fall out about whether player X is shite or a genius, mock Radio Stoke and their setup callers (here Rob from Trentham (again) who never goes but listens on the radio and wants Y manager out), get back to Biddulph for 5.30 and walk down from town, occasionally grab a takeaway and sometimes a post match beer on the way
I enjoy my 12 year olds take on it all and his deep analysis walking home (last week he piped up 'that was bloody shit' - I said 'language mate' but he was correct), and conversations either in person or over WhatsApp with my 20 year old away in Loughborough about this weeks latest shitshow/promotion charge
Settle in for a film or some TV shite with Mrs R, who always asks how we went on but can usually tell by the way I either chuck my coat on the floor in disgust or have a smile on my face
That's how my Saturdays have been since my eldest started to go (before that it might have involved meeting Mrs R for a night on the town!) - Its not going to change now despite the whole averageness of how we are currently playing - it will get better/worse (you pick) but will eventually get better/worse still - that's how football is.
Shit times, shit players, shit managers will come and go - the club will always be part of my Saturdays.

I’ll probably renew but how often I’ll use it remains in doubt as things stand. We have a static in wales and my partner has just changed her job meaning we can go pretty much every weekend. If we carry on as we are, would I really want to travel back to watch more of the same performances we’ve witnessed this term?

I like you, I think, have been a season ticket holder for decades and have seen much better football and much worse. This is the reality for most long term supporters of most teams. I live 5 minutes from a pub and that certainly provides a better experience than watching us at present but I have already renewed, more in hope than expectation.

I'll be renewing but it has been a real slog this season and not much fun at all once the novelty of being back in a football ground wore off. I did miss the matchday routine throughout the pandemic but I didn't miss the travelling and constantly having to plan and book journeys. At the moment Northern are even more useless than they normally are, there's a reduced service in place until the end of May. Last week I got back at 11.30pm from the Blackpool game, should've been home before 9. Couldn't have felt much more miserable sat in a boozer in Preston reflecting on the game & season to be honest. It's a 255 mile round trip for me from Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria so every game is a full day commitment and requires booking trains 4/5 weeks in advance to save money. I meet my mate from Carlisle who is also a ST holder and we both agree we'd rather deal with the unreliability of the trains than go by car these days because the football is generally awful and at least we can make a day of it. I leave Dalton just before 8am and we are usually in Stoke town centre having a beer before midday. Those few hours before the game, like they are for most people, are usually the highlight. London road ale house, Sutherland Arms, Bru, White Star, Glebe, you are spoilt for choice in Stoke really if you love your real ale like we do. I couldn't imagine ever not doing this because at the end of the day, you love the club regardless how bad the team are on the pitch don't you. There may come a time one day when I can't fulfil this commitment any more but I don't think it'll ever be through a loss of interest. We've never been much good, we probably never will be but we certainly aren't invested in this club for the glory are we it's our club and we'll always be proud of it. Let's hope we can at least try and end this season on a positive note and come back stronger for 22/23.

I will be renewing at the end of March, so I can wait as long as possible before I have to settle the credit card bill. (Once a tight ....... always a tight .......! ) As others have said, it is the matchday ritual that keeps me going. I call round at my Mum's for Saturday dinner (always steak, mushrooms, egg, tomato, baked beans and a baked potato, followed by a pudding and custard). I then drive us both to Longton to pick up a family friend we have been going with for a good 60 years, then it is off to the ground, a good chat on the way, a bit of gallows humour with the people who have sat around us since the bet365 opened and then when it is all over, sit in the car listening to Praise & Grumble (disagreeing with and calling most of the callers idiots ) with a flask of tea before finally heading for home. My Mum has been going for 68 years, since she started going out with my Dad and discovered that an afternoon out meant going to watch Stoke. My only concession to how bad we have been in recent years is that I have told my Mum (and our friend) that if I am renewing so are they and old age is not a valid exemption!

I renewed at the ticket office this morning en route from Trentham to Stoke. The humour from the blokes around in the very small queue who were also renewing was interesting. There's an amazing amount of apathy around which I can't remember experiencing to this extent before.

Seriously though what it did do was make me realise it was just a game and other things were more important so now I am disappointed when we lose but hey ho.

That the Cheltenham Festival advert? 😂 that's one of them! Every time I see it I just think it sums the club up!! I'm less pissed off about that than their failure to fit TMVs to the sinks. They'd rather you peel the skin off your hands than ensure health and safety in a public space.

Change of manager will see me renew I despair at the fickleness of our support There's not a club in the land whose support wouldn't be having discussions like this if they've endured the six years we've had! Leicester fans were on Puel's back after beating Man City and Chelsea. Stoke fans must be the most patient in the league

I’ll renew, as above, there’s many reasons why I go, and I’m not stopping anytime soon
However, we shouldnt underestimate the impact of the rises in the cost of living, although, £400 on a season ticket might seem small fry compared to having the heating on soon (sad face)
