All the sycophancy over the national anthem. In 1966 the British establishment took umbrage because the crowd sang God save our gracious team. What changed?

Complete and utter clowns. I fucking hate their fanbase with a passion. At least they get behind their players and city. Unlike some of the tossers on here

All the Scouse not English rubbish wears a bit thin. Also the "look at us we hope England lose " stuff too gets tiresome and the constant need to tell everyone aswell. However that aside both Liverpool and Everton have some good lads amongst them. That anti-England agenda amongst a chunk of their supporters really fucks me off. Man United have the same thing with their fanbase as well. Very strange behaviour. ..... cockneys eh? ;-)

It’s all to do with Hillsborough mate and not one royal family representative at any of the services or memorials Anyway I’ll leave people to hate away and let them get on with it Did any royal family representative attend any of the services or memorials for the Bradford fire victims? I genuinely don't know but I can't help getting a bit pissed off when I hear English people booing their own national anthem. Twats. Perhaps if the national anthem was about the nation rather than an individual everyone might feel able to join in.

I am not in any way anti England but I am anti monarchy so don't identify with the current anthem at all. Not that I'd boo it.

Do Everton boo the national Anthem? They dress up as Morris Men and dance a special rendition of it. You're a real funny guy. Speaking to an Everton season ticket holder of 40 + years, who has seen them play every game in Europe, he confirms that they have/would never boo the national Anthem. I await your pointless response

The irony being that Liverpool were traditionally the more Protestant/Loyalist of the two Merseyside clubs. But this is a separate issue

I did the Beatles tour from the Albert Dock once. I was expecting this ‘Irish City’ when all I discovered was a very British city. Go figure as the yanks say. Yeah they make out like they are more of a "Marseille' or a "Dublin" type place. I find it in the day time quite a chilled City Centre compared to Manchester where its always frantic. Still a British City though your right.

No excuses for me. You either love your country and show your national anthem some respect or you're as bad as the North London lefties who hate the country, our history and the flag (Yes, I'm looking at you Thornberry)! .

The national anthem is shite and the Royal Family are a bunch of parasites. The flag is a piece of cloth I have no real attachment to if I'm honest. Some of our history makes me proud, some makes me cringe. The most patriotic thing we as citizens can do is work hard, pay our taxes and help those people in our community that need it whether they have Anglo-Saxon heritage or just stepped off a dinghy in Dover the day before. If they want to boo, let them boo........

Most of us are somewhere types who like to belong, are patriotic (something the labour party has long abandoned) and the flag means a lot especially to our services and is something we would get behind and defend. I agree if they want to boo, let them boo. It doesn't mean they are right to do so but it is a free country (just about) and they and you are entitled to your (wrong) opinions .

I was there in the Royal Box (representing the FSA) and to be honest I didn't notice it. It obviously happened but it certainly didn't drown out the singer. What I DID notice, was when the crowd was asked to show solidarity with Ukraine the Liverpool fans sang you'll never walk alone, which I appreciated. As an aside, one of the strongest anti-monarchy people I have met in football is Peter Coates. Being anti-monarchy is not of course the same as being unpatriotic or anti your country in any sense.

It's a shit durge of an anthem anyway, which applies to most. I don't boo it, can't be arsed but I don't stand up especially for it, unless already standing. Get sme aggressive looks sometimes when remaining seated. Why are people bothered? I don't get this monarchy stuff though. After Liz has tried her best to hold the fucked-up relic together they should privatise it so that those subjects can become real shareholders and prolong it if they want.

Being against an archaic system based on some arbitrarily declared 'Divine Right' rather than merit, ability, hard work, and risk taking doesn't make one a Marxist, can be quite the opposite e.g. USA. I'm broadly speaking a Tory but there are many Labour people I would rather be alongside in the trenches than some of the snakes in the Tories. I think that's a sweeping generalisation to declare Labour voters/party as un-patriotic. Yeh there are the likes of Corbyn & Co but also the Tories have some dodgy people that are unpatriotic. Ours is a great flag, a Union flag (stangely excluding Wales) but it is still just a piece of cloth. Do people ealy literally fight to defend a piece of cloth or that union of values that enables us to all have freedom and democracy, while being forced to be subjects of a monarchy.

Having a royal family ... that we pay taxes to keep, is a piss take by the ruling classes on every last one of us ordinary folk. We even paid the hush money to keep a close family member out of serious criminality. If booing the national anthem gets your back up, I genuinely pity you.
