For the first time since relegation I can see the light
Second half against Huddersfield then the last two games we look like a side that believes;, that wants to go for the win
We won’t do it this year but I feel we’ve got a great base for next season Just hope MON keeps this style of play, at least if we fail it’s a joy to watch

Yes,agree. If the team we put out today was starting the first game of this season,we would certainly be up there. I still think we are in with a shout for the play offs.

The timing coincides with the return to the team of Powell. Not the only reason, but a significant one.

I’m certainly not writing this season off but for me it’s the joy of wanting and looking forward to watching us again. Instead of dragging myself down to the Bet365 I’m now positively looking forward to match day again.

The buzz about the place next weekend if we’d held on would have been immense, and we’d be sitting in 10th rather than 13th. Hopefully the atmosphere is still there (and it should be against Birmingham) and we can climb back up towards 6th.
Missing from yesterday’s squad were Campbell, Vrancic and Sawyers too. We can still haul our way back into this. There’s 1/3 of the season left.

ROFL. But like <insert name of any team in the world>, we are going to find it very difficult to beat them. At least some posters score 100% for consistency.

I share that optimism. The mid season slump means we've blown it this year. If we can keep the majority of this young team together, with another year of experience and smart loan signings like the Harwood-Bellis one will make us very strong contenders.
Would never turn down a promotion but if we could make a run next year and pul it off we will be in a far better position to compete in the Premier League.

This new guy, Optimism, who has joined the squad, seems to be starting to make a difference. Its a pity that we never made a move for that guy Success who was with Watford a few years back. With the two of them we could really be looking forward.

It’s been said before, but if we did scrape in, no one would want to face us.
Let’s enjoy the last 1/3 of the season and see what it brings.
MON has infuriated me at times this season, as have the team…. If we do manage to get to the play offs and win it, the season review should be made into a Hollywood film!

I’m quite relaxed about getting into the play offs as I think another season in the Championship wouldn’t do any harm in terms of the long term development of some of the younger players. Loss of loan players won’t be too much of an issue with Harry back in the defence , DWP taking on the role of a game changer up front and Maja possibly signing full time. All in all it’s an ‘enjoy the ride’ time at the moment and see what the rest of the season brings.

Maja is the key signing. Yesterday it was brilliant to see a striker with good link up play, holding off defenders, controlling the ball under pressure. We haven't had that for a long long time and it gave us the foothold in the game against for me the second best team in the league right now.
And of course, he scores goals.
Maja is basically a permanent signing though isn't it? It'll be perm in the summer after the latest 3 year accounts cut off point so the transfer fee falls into next year's figures?

I’m more optimistic than at any time since we lost to Liverpool on penalties.
Hope this isn’t a false dawn.

Baker has given us a different dimension. He ran the show yesterday and would make a far better captain than anyone else in the team. Free kicks and penalties aside, he is different gravy. Such a pity we didn't get him sooner, as MON had been after him for a while.

How could you ever turn down promotion to the Prem but when you look at the ammount of wins teams in the bottom half get in a season it's no bed of roses is it? Hate to be unambitious but I'd take entertaining, attacking, high scoring football over it everytime.

Very optimistic - but if we can scrape into playoffs and by the greatest fortune manage to get promoted - it will not be the same squad that kicks off in the premier league - so you can’t compare now to the future

You can't build a Prem team in the championship. We'd find it a lot harder to blood our own youngsters too. As a supporter promotion to the Prem for a club like ours is a fine balance of pro's and con's. There's the money of course but it's not like we benefit from it.

Amazing that the bottom teams even still have a chance of staying up winning 1 or 2 games by this time of the season. The hope would be that you use the promotion to be competitive like we were for around 5 years when we were in there.

Very optimistic - but if we can scrape into playoffs and by the greatest fortune manage to get promoted - it will not be the same squad that kicks off in the premier league - so you can’t compare now to the future If we were to go up we would attract some better players than we would if we didn't but you can't rebuild an entire squad in one summer and expect it to function as well as one that has already had some time together playing competitive football. If you go up you need to add a bit of quality to a solid core. At the moment we are in that good enough to go up but not good enough to stay up phase. I'd like us to go up this season but being realistic given where we are in rebuilding the squad I think we'd get battered and come straight back down. As another poster said in terms of giving us a realistic chance of going up and staying up another season in the Championship wouldn't do us any harm - as per what happened to Leeds and Brentford before they went up.
