They had one either side of the bridge didn't they and bring your own beer. There was a terraced pub down the side of the one on the right hand side coming from Stoke. You could get a beer and they'd come and fetch you when they had a free table. Can't remember it's name now. The Norfolk? I used to drink in there sometimes about 82-84, a Marstons pub, a good old fashioned boozer with some great old characters some I used to bring back the duty free tobacco for.

Will have to pay £6 to park tomorrow and drink at Hem Heath Cricket Club , which is still a good price

Used to be a huge bloke who looked like a Turkish Danny DeVito who used to stand outside his house, often in his vest and pants asking folk re the game. You could see into his house and he had no furniture apart from a wooden chair . I started to cross the road to avoid him after a bit.

To be fair I never went in it, but it was still memorable. Just outside Stoke, The Winghouse at Tittensor. In the early 80's I workede in Hanley, but lived in Stafford, so it waas up and down the A34. The pub was well known at the time for the habit of the resident dog (Bull Terrier?) which regularly used to find its way to the ridge of the Roof, and would stand up there watching the passing traffic. It was quite famous as a local peculiarity! The pub was at the bottom of Winghouse lane, but may not be there any more.

Winghouse in Tittensor now a housing estate Dolls House was in Stone, used to be The Falcon prior and then Changes if I remember correctly. The Place, fantastic even under 18’s on a Sunday night (1983). Got thrown out on my stag night in 1992 (not under 18s night😂). Reflex - ex Boozy Dog. Thrown out for pole dancing with no shirt on 🕺

The soul music crowd used to frequent the Antelope on Marsh Street Hanley now a car park. Approx 1978-1981. A really eclectic mix of people in there, probably why the drugs squad used to regularly come in and have a look around, sort of John Thaw/Dennis Waterman style (for those old enough! lol) The White Swan (Lion?) on the main road into Hanley, roughly where the huge Tesco crossroads is now, used to have the alternative music crowd, punk, ska etc run by a gay couple.
