Has anyone been watching this, on over 5 nights this week?
Martin Freeman plays a cop with questionable morals and mental issues, never seen him in a role like this and he's brilliant. His Scouse accent is pretty good too, he seems to be channelling Stephen Graham. It took me 10 minutes to realise it was Freeman with his haggard features and beard.

It is a great watch and fast flowing with lots of humourous lines (Warning: those offended by swearing please do not watch) though it gets the characters across.
It is well written and filmed and Freeman as you say is fantastic in the role he plays (better played by a non scouser than Graham i find marmite).
Highly recommend, we have seen the first 3 episodes.

Binged it last couple of nights. Last episode was a bit disappointing and 'convenient' but leaves the possibility of a second series.
Brilliant cast as well- Walder Frey from GOT in a bit part.

Sounds good, I like Freeman. He was good in Fargo too. I’m only half way through Tourist still, is it worth binning it off to watch this? I only have time to watch one thing at a time😏

A bit more Tourist tonight then, think I’ll binge The Responder on Sunday since there’s no football on. Incidentally, why is there no top flight football this week?

This is the best performance by Martin Freeman I have ever seen. A real solo tour de force. However, I can't say that I'm actually enjoying it. A broken copper, a broken police force, a broken society. It's too depressing to enjoy.
If you look closeley Freeman is never filmed actually driving a police car!

Yes Freeman has deffo been hanging out with either (a) Stephen Graham or (b) some seriously dodgy Scousers - he’s completely transformed himself!! PS they use stunt drivers

Really enjoyable from start to finish. That 'Casey' is a good little actress too. I liked the way her story played out from baghead scrote to lost, damaged individual.

Currently on episode 1 and so far so good, watched “this is going to hurt” and it’s an excellent watch, wife’s read the book and raved about it also.

Watching ’No Return' at the minute. Sheridan Smith must be going for the Romesh Ranganathan Award, she's on everything at the minute

Just finished it and the ending errmmmm, as if....
In a way I was hoping he’d gone deep under cover and brought the whole lot down, a bit of a flat ending for me and not a lot of thought going in to it, solid 8.5/10 though.

Yeah it was a bit convenient I see your point. However, I suggest that the BBC need to always be aware of the fact that when they have a winning formula on their hands, that it would be madness to limit the possibility of another series. I think that’s what they’ve done, possibly to the detriment of a “big finale” which most of the audience, including me, would have wished for. It does show that the BBC, whatever you may consider it’s failings, can still deliver top-notch gripping drama (see “Line of Duty” etc.). It does confirm that Martin Freeman is a national treasure. I sort of realised that after “Sherlock”, but was blindsided by “Bilbo Baggins”.

I remember another BBC police drama set in Liverpool from about 10-12 years ago called Good Cop. Warren Brown was in that too, in the lead role as a cop who becomes a vigilante. But it left a lot of things unresolved and never got a second series

Mrs. Klingon now has me on a strict diet of Venetian blinds, salvaged from the recycling centre, for that very reason.
