I'm looking for some advice on speakers to go with a turntable I've brought for my ladys Christmas present....
I've purchased a Pro-Ject T1 SB phono turntable and I seem to be struggling to get a decent set of bookshelf speakers under £300.
I've spoken to a few so called experts in a few local shops but they all seem hell bent on flogging me the expensive speakers that I don't want to spend on.
I know there are a few music heads knocking about on here so any advice welcome 😊

De pendant in budget you can’t really go wrong with Bose….
Another to look at is Elac. If you’ve got a few extra sheckels then have a look at KEF
Things to take into consideration are how big your room is, what’s in it, and the cabling you’re gonna use to link the speakers to the turntable.
Take this into account and go back to the shops you visited, then you armed with a bit of ammo. Any music tech worth their salt will gladly walk through it with you.

Very good and great value, definitely not disappointed with mine.

In all seriousness they are top notch. I have been into music all my life ,owned music shops, DJed etc etc when I was younger and have over 2,000 vinyl in my house still.Just thought Id say. Kef decent, Bose overrated not good value for money.

Presumably you’ve tried Richer Sounds mate? Yeah, they have recommended some Klipsch R-41PM bookshelf speakers but they are £329 and I don't want to spend that much. Am I being unrealistic thinking I can get cheaper?

I'm a complete technophobe so no fuck all about this kind of stuff, but I just want to make sure I can get the vinyl playing on Christmas day

Hello, the turntable has a phono stage built-in - so what you need is an amplifier with a spare LINE or AUX input, which is then connected onto a set of speakers. Alternatively, you can connect to a pair of powered speakers, with a spare LINE or AUX input, as they have the amplifier built-in to the speakers for extra convenience.
