A player you couldn't help but like. Don't ever remember him cheating or being an arsehole and a fantastic goalscorer.

In all seriousness, a fantastic player to watch. In my 24 years on the planet, maybe the best striker I’ve seen in the prem.

Sad to read this. One of my favourite non-Stoke players.

Brilliant striker. Great goalscorer but that was only part of what he brought to his teams. Strong and good with his shoulders.

A player you couldn't help but like. Don't ever remember him cheating or being an arsehole and a fantastic goalscorer. He had the lot - pace, guile, low centre of gravity, and a truly devastating finisher. Even allowing for playing in superb City teams over the years that made chances on a plate for him, he was one of those strikers who could make goals out of nothing. He commands a great deal of respect from anyone who's every played with and managed him. I hope he does his coaching badges, because he could be a good manager one day. All the best Kun.

One of the all time greats.
I know they are on unimaginable sums of money but I think for players like him who live and breathe the game, having your career abruptly ended like this, and not on your own terms, must be quite devastating.

Clearly had the talent but had something else even more valuable, the drive/heart and will to do something great when he had the ball, whether it was a shot, getting past a defender or a pass to a teammate. Yes he made huge sums of money, but had the will to succeed and a brain that could quickly deduce what to do with the ball - that's why he made those sums. Then on top of all that, he wasn't afraid to get physical - a real man. I have no idea what he was like off the pitch, but on the pitch he was golden.
A career cut short for a great player and a tragedy. Full respect to him and best wishes for the next stage of life.\
Edit: And as a silver lining, I'm glad they caught the heart issue in time.

A player you couldn't help but like. Don't ever remember him cheating or being an arsehole and a fantastic goalscorer. That's true. On all three counts. Top top man.

Definitely my favourite non-Stoke player of the past 20 years! Great to watch. Genuinely struggling to think of a better goalscorer to have graced the Prem.
