I can see both sides
Fans see everything solvable in an instant ..in the case of lighting ( pardon the pun ) with a flick of a switch , from the clubs view theres cost , safety , planning and fitting items into their own existing to do list … equally short term fixes may not be the most economical , or indeed planning process or safety wise the best solution ..indeed a temporary solution may make a more permanent solution harder or more costly to achieve in the future
Though presumably between Rob Killingworth ( Head of Safety operations ) Nick Robinson ( Head of Facilities) Richard Smith ( Stoke City Properties , surveyor ) they'd have or could access all the answers including answering the question of budget and timing ..given time
The minutes themselves aren’t the issue if the item hasn’t been assigned an owner and timescale during the meeting , if not they’re accurate ,rather its the scope of the meeting itself that’s at the centre of the issue ..items raised should be referenced have an owner and timing and progress reported upon each meeting ..otherwise tracking by the council and interested parties becomes problematical
issues raised requiring more than a petty cash type budget to resolve understandably need a considered approach , often at a departmental meeting ..so answers together with timelines will seldom be forthcoming initially ..which is why it’s even more important that the action point is referenced and reported back on ..preferably without waiting for a full council/ club meeting if the clubs decision is not to proceed .or allocated an unspecified completion date ( weak way of saying desirable but it’ll never be done )
Without that all that is happening is the item is being raised and heard ..but with little chance of progress and worthwhile questioning
The council may benefit from having its own simple , but independent website , separate from the page allocated on the official site for minutes ..
allowing for council news , campaigns , reporting of sub committee meetings , updates to issues raised with the club etc ..which may in help improve supporters engagement with the council ..which in turn may provide the council with more weight going into meetings with the club
