It doesn’t matter it’s just an opinion. Don’t get upset about it. I'm far from upset mate 👍 Genuine question, why do you get so attached to managers? I genuinely don’t understand it and want to try to.

There are some nauseating twats I wish would give up with the Oatcake. No names, but they are full of their own self importance, always wanting to provoke an argument, their opinions are always right, everyone else is wrong etc…..I rarely post on here but I do spend a few minutes reading it everyday. Some of these people with tens of thousands of posts to their names clearly can have nothing else in their lives which is quite sad really. Why? I have lots in my life. Including a 2 hour commute everyday. It’s really not difficult 😂 Is it 2 hours each way or one hour twice a day?

Genuine question, why do you get so attached to managers? I genuinely don’t understand it and want to try to. You'll have to let me know in what concept you're using the word attached here mate before I answer that question I guess it varies doesn’t it actually. I’m talking generally here and not about MON so don’t bring that into it because I do think that adds an emotivness into it that I do think clouds judgement. You have some that won’t say a bad word because it’s against the manager and they know best. Even when it’s clearly not good. And then you have it when they’re clearly doing a bad job and have been for months but people will stick with them. Even when it’s dire. For example with Jones. There were loads willing to give him that little bit more time. I don’t get it. More context on where I look at managers from which may help explain how I am - I think their disposable at the end of the day. I probably dont see them as an actual person. Although with MON I do and I like that person but I toss that aside. I can be hasty with it but I tend to have zero emotional attachment to them. Whereas a lot of people love them like they love the club. And I get that as they are a big part of it but they’re also not? In the sense they are so transient, so disposable etc. I find the whole mentality around it fascinating tbh. I’m very much once they’re past their sell by date, get rid sort of person and I get that’s not so popular. But I also think getting an emotional attachment with these entities is odd given that they could be gone as soon as soon as they come. I guess I find comfort that I can be so throwaway a bit like a farmer not naming his animals so he doesn’t get attached. Anyway I’ve rambled there but I find it interesting!

Right got ya, i think I'm no different to you in the respect that I'm a firm believer of getting rid when the time is right. I wanted Pulis gone a good 12 months before he went. I wanted Hughes gone about 12 months before he went. I wanted Lambert gone before he even signed his contract. I wanted Rowett gone as soon as he turned on the fans and refused to use Bojan, although, stupidly I did stand by the prick for too long when others were ripping him apart, but I honestly thought he was the right man at the time. I quickly sussed that Jones was a complete charlatan and, although taken in by his passion for a short while, it didn't take me long to want him gone. All managers have a shelf life, just like players, and if they are making our team more successful I'll back them all the way, as soon as they give me a reason to not believe in them then I can quite easily get detached to them, which I think the majority of football fans are like to be honest. You get the odd nutjob on both sides of the coin, who will support no matter what, or slag off no matter what but they are a minority, and to bring MON into it, I defend him on here because I firmly believe he is the man who has stabilised a club that was rotten to the core, and given time to evolve in club management he will take us back to the Premier League, and as it stands I still believe this will happen. When I don't believe in him anymore I will have no issues in saying so.

FM badly missed too although transfer windows are his real forte, he doesn't tend to join in a lot of the low level debate, he will be sorely missed if he is not around when the January window opens!

For what it’s worth re MoN I do like him and think that overall this season he’s got more right than wrong but still has some blind spots of things that are pretty obvious and I struggle to look the other way with them. Where we differ is I thought for how good his first season was, last season was bad so that’s why he’s on shorter time with me. I also think the club was a mess and still probably is if he left and don’t really like the reliance on him to sort that. I think it’s a failure of the owners.

Actually, when you open up, it explains many things. You're displaying psychopathic behaviour. To explain more. In a study I once read, psychopaths make up 1% of the world's population but contrary to what people think, psychopaths are not all crazy killers. It just means that they have a lack of empathy and if some bugger/something gets in the way, a psychopath can dismiss them as disposable... much like the screams of a lovely pig being killed is of no consequence because they make nice bacon. Most people wouldn't have a bacon sandwich for years if they were present in a slaughterhouse when the pig was being killed, but you're one of those 1% who, after watching the poor bugger getting slaughtered, heads off to the Greasy Spoon and has a lovely bacon butty. I love pigs. OS.

That said I’ve watched a pig get slaughtered on the tv live so not quite the same and found the squealing quite haunting but pretty much did dismiss it instantly. They definitely knew it was coming even before it happened too. Very intelligent creatures. The cows didn’t clearly had no clue what was coming.

You've now revealed that you're actually not a fan but a 'spectator'. I, and most others, can never be like you when we go to a game or follow it on the telly or the wireless. A 'Fan' is exactly that... a fanatic and that comes with all its idiosyncrasies like being completely irrational and tribalistic in a way that they rarely get in any other part of their lives. Take me for instance. I'm bloody 80 and if Stoke throw away a game like they did against Cardiff then my weekend is completely ruined. I hate losing at the best of times but to throw away 2 points like that is unforgivable. Until probably Monday morning that is. And I wouldn't want to be any other way. BTW, none of this is having a dig at you. We're all made diferently and nobody is right or wrong. We'll probably have to start calling you 'Psycho'. OS.

My weekend is ruined when we lose. That matters. The club matters. The fans matter. I think the players and managers and owners tbh are transient, movable. The soul of the club is us. I’m still fuming about Cardiff now. I’m laid back in life generally but I have honestly had someone come up to me who I don’t know in real life who sits near me introduce me to his son “as that nutter from down Stoke”. So I’m with you there but I don’t think the players and managers feel that. Not many players actually want to play for us and think that’s a fallacy a lot of fans buy into. I don’t. Fair, I often say I’d make a good WW1 general and I know exactly what I mean and it’s no compliment 😂

But some players and owners and managers do feel like fans. Take Peter Coates for instance. He loves the football club he owns. Lou loved everything about SCFC, but he loved his Celtic club even more. Many of our ex-players who didn't come from around here still love this club. TC is a typical example. The club, the city and the fans are part of their DNA when they hang their boots up. Rowett was never 'one of us'. Neither was Lambert or Jones. It's important to sort the wheat from the chaff and not stereotype though. Now bugger off. OS.

That will teach you to ramble.

Generally but especially if the calves are male they go for slaughter. Cows get old or dry and have to be slaughtered. It isn't the same as raising for beef but it's not all fluffy unicorns either. You can't milk a unicorn for a start

Dairy cows can live to 20 years and so obviously you get attached. You can also get attached to beef animals that are slaughtered at 18 months, it's an occupational hazard. All you can do is give them a good life whilst they are with you. I was always taught to look after your animals and they will look after you.

As a dairy farmer I can assure you that we do get attached to our animals and pedigree animals are all given names. When you have 700 milking cows they have to be given numbers for management reasons. That will teach you to ramble. How "dairy" say that about your cows.

Care to elaborate? it was a joke, im pretty sure he offered up another poster on here for a fight in front of the statue of Sir Stan and it has become a legend of the oatcake, its a shame it got so vile between him and craps as sometimes it was quite entertaining, in fact one of his last posts here was this board is so right wing im disgusted your all racists!!!

Guess though being a dairy is a bit different to rearing them to slaughter? Dairy cows can live to 20 years and so obviously you get attached. You can also get attached to beef animals that are slaughtered at 18 months, it's an occupational hazard. All you can do is give them a good life whilst they are with you. I was always taught to look after your animals and they will look after you. Just to tell you my position... most farmers do a brilliant job and not for a moment would I class them as psychopathic. I would say they're hardened to reality, which just happens to have an unpleasant ending for some of their creatures. My comments were directed at the 'Joe Soaps' of this world, like myself, who try not to think where their luvverly lamb chop comes from, but if I'm forced to watch the process of preparing it, I'd be a bit sick. Having said that, as a kid from a very poor family, I used to snare cute little bunny rabbits and found nothing nicer than a rabbit pie and veg, including taters stolen from folk like you. Now back to where Suffolk Stokie has gone. I sincerely hope he's not Soylent Green. And while we're on the subject of missing posters, where has Mr Daftburger gone to these days? If you're out there, Daftbugger, wave a handy across the ethernet and let us know you haven't popped your clogs. OS.
