He needed to be on from the start really.
And then about 10 minutes before he actually came on.

Correct, I thought we played well in a very fast game, outstanding Allen, Fletcher, Danny Batth were outstanding, great atmosphere in a great stadium

This is exactly what he was bought in for, to change tight games like tonight.

I suspect he will on Saturday I agree. I think Vrancic has reached a point in his career where 2 x 90 minute games in a week are too much. I suspect MON felt that Luton was (just about) the harder game of the 2 we played this week.

In my opinion it's ridiculous.

I don't think it's always a question of fitness with Vrancic, some players are just better impact players than others and when a game gets stretched after 60 odd minutes and legs are tiring a fresh Vrancic is a great weapon to have. The way he calmly kept the ball when we were closing the game out was excellent as well.........

Used correctly, Vrancic and Powell are dynamite at this level
I do understand the thinking around using Vrancic sparingly, particularly with Powell out and TBF MON got it spot on last night bringing him on when he did.

At least MoN decided to bring him on even if it was possibly a little late. The decision was justified by the impact and the result. Good work by MoN and even better work by Vrancic. MoN needs to keep learning and good results will help that process, hopefully.

Really? Opinions eh. I thought Allen, Batth and Sawyers/Tymon were awful. Fletcher was by far our best player.

Really? Opinions eh. I thought Allen, Batth and Sawyers/Tymon were awful. Fletcher was by far our best player. This. Allen ended strongly but even when he made effort, it was quite dog balloon stuff. He won the ball and drove into their half at the end, then fell over. I thought that epitomised his game really, hence why I rated it a 6/10 at best, 5.5 would be accurate. Ineffective, anonymous, easily passed far too often. Same for Sawyers who had more of the ball, yet created nothing of sorts. Compare that to their young lad who came on at the end with instant impact from our left. Vrancic was much more versatile in his positioning and attacking intent.

With Powell out, he is the one player we have who is capable of producing a match winning moment out of nothing.

Perhaps we should call him “One-touch” Mario, like Paul Maguire was called “One-touch” Billy when he came on and scored with his first touch!

The question is whether he is able to do the same over 90 minutes, and on the evidence so far I would say not or rarely. He's a classy player but over 90 mins definitely goes anonymous for significant periods of the game. Our best midfielder though.

Even if he has an average game, he is capable of doing one brilliant thing to change the game I'm pretty confident that if he was physically capable he would be playing every game. Same goes for Norwich last season, even though they were doing well without him he was very highly regarded there.

If Batth does play, then Vrancic has to start. I'm not a big fan of two big lads in a back three, as I've mentioned previously, however if we are going to play it, then we may as well have a damn good set-piece specialist in there to make them most of it.

....set up a great cross for the goal, great decision by MON too. ... for bringing him on then Yea great decision, pitty he didn’t do it much earlier when most fans had identified the need for creativity. My comment isn’t meant to be harsh, it just naffs me off how slow he is to react. You can’t always get it right (obviously) but when thousands of stoke fans see it well before the man who’s paid to spot these things early, something isn’t right.
