It was like a dungeon walking up to the buses after the match last night. Not helped with the street lighting not working. Hope they get it sorted cos night matches will be a mare. Surprised they haven't attached a couple of spotlights to the lampposts to shine light over the area. It would have certainly helped the ambulance services for that fella who collapsed last night.

My mate said exactly the same as we walked back to the car last night. Having sat in the Boothen for the first time for years I was surprised how many people were walking up that ramp/hill to the buses and this with only 9,500 in attendance.Needs sorting ASAP

Totally agree, I use the torch on my phone. Someone will end up getting hurt soon.

I mentioned this after the West Brom game, it was a cloudy night and quite dark up that hill, people are walking on top of each other almost. Needs bringing to the attention of the club. It wouldn't be too big a job to put some lighting up there before someone gets hurt. Maybe Angela Smith could put a word in?

I know we need new lights but what about all the lights that are already there that don't work.

Does anybody know if that area is owned by Stoke City or the Council?

The club are aware of the thread and the concern expressed. As an aside the club contacted those who attempted to save the supporter’s life and expressed gratitude for the efforts.

Ramp light was definitely one of his better singles, a man ahead of his time it would seem!

I've just emailed the Supporters Council. I’m not sure it’s the club but rather the city council who’s role it is to sort the lighting out? Is that path not city council land as it’s a public walkway?

There are set of green gates at the top of the bank, which are opened on match days. so I would have thought this is a Stoke City problem and not a council one. Yes it is dangerous as I had my 6 year grand daughter with me on wed v Brentford and she nearly got knocked over a few times.

Is that path not city council land as it’s a public walkway? If it’s the one right Outside the Sentinel Stand that leads up to where Banksy statue is then the club own it I’m 99% sure. The bank where the grnetleman sadly died is council owned and is never lit either though.

The land in question may well be owned by the Council and if isn’t, any attempts by a third party like Stoke to improve the situation could lay that company open to liability.

In all fairness I do not think you or the club are aware of the seriousness of this. The clocks go back this weekend and we will all be leaving in the dark. As a council member you should be sorting this out now it is a DISASTER waiting to happen.

No use just being AWARE! They need to do something about it, after all a couple of floodlights isn’t exactly rocket science. Simply being AWARE won’t shield them from litigation if someone gets injured.

The Council have discussed this with the club and passed on all concerns. I can assure you that I understand.
