As a ten year-old I will never forget watching your Coronation on our nine inch black and white tv. You dedicated your life to serving your country - your faith carrying you through.
A very sad day.
T least you are home with your beloved Philip.
God be with you

I remember the silver jubilee as a 6 year old. Flags, street parties. Great times where everyone had community spirit. Happy days.

I do wonder how long it will take for us all to remember to change 'queen' to 'king' in the national anthem. I know i will find that a bit difficult.

The Queen. R.I.P
The sad news reached the office Thursday evening while working and we honoured her with silence and thoughts.

The Queen lived a very comfortable privileged long life, but I find her life sad in a way too. At the age of 25, not only did she have to deal with the death of her father, but she was forced into a role of immense responsibility and scrutiny.
Most 25 year olds, including the Queen's own sister, children, and grandchildren at that age, have the privilege of enjoying their youth and making mistakes. The Queen didn't get that opportunity. Then she was stuck in this job for 70 years. It must have been very boring and stifling to shake countless hands, make mundane small talk, and pose for pictures at ribbon cuttings. But she did it with utmost duty.
A lot of people envy the luxury and lifestyle of the Royal family, but I'm not sure many would have wanted to trade lives with the Queen.

It's for those reasons why I've got nothing but respect for the woman. She didn't choose that life, she was born into it, but served this country with such grace and dignity. RIP

Rip Queen Lizzy. Not a fan of the monarchy but you were always a warm, kind lady who served our country for a lifetime with great dignity and were respected by your peers across the world.
While I don't feel any great sadness and hope the death doesn't cause much disruption. She at least deserves our thoughts and respects whervere you stand on the monarchy.

Her visit to Ireland gained her nothing but respect there. 2010 or 11 can't remember which. Was seen as a bit controversial at the time but thousands turned up and a record for viewing figures. Was a few idiots of course but the people loved her. She actually apologised for those who had died and attempted the language 😁 I remember my Mum in particular being glued to watching her .

Typical woman eh 😉 Haha it's a fair point though, for some reason most of us seem to notice that stuff far more than the blokes I know. I remember around the time of Brexit when HRH appeared wearing what was basically the flag of the EU in outfit form. That was also a classic 🤣

She was the best of British and would have made a good Stoke fan (if only more of us held these traits) - uncomplaining, loyal, stoic and steadfast. RIP ma’am.

She'd just always been there hadn't she ? Throughout the countless ups and downs in the Royal family, and more importantly of this country as a whole, the Queen was always there as the figurehead. And now, even though it's no surprise for someone of her age, she's suddenly not there anymore, and we now have a King for the foreseeable future.
I'm no real fan of the hangers-on on the periphery of the Royal family, but I do feel that Charles, William, and Anne (even Edward) do represent the country well and earn their keep. As for the rest, particularly Andrew and Harry, they're absolute wasters and freeloaders.
RIP Ma'am !

As a staunch Republican I am surprised at the depth of feeling that has welled up inside me in the last day. It reminds me of the passing of my own grandmother and has stirred memories of selfless family service. Her total acceptance and immersion in what was best for the nation and the Commonwealth will never be surpassed. She was no more than a young woman when her father died and she took on the massive responsibility. She put herself in difficult situations abroad to patch relations in a way politicians never could. She met leaders of all faiths, morality and competence with equal grace. As a woman through the 1950s and to today she operated predominantly in a misogynistic male dominated world. She changed the way we think about women in powerful roles. Even the day before he death, in hindsight when she was clearly not well, she dragged herself up out of bed to do her ceremonial duty and accept a new PM. She promised to give herself to the nation and she did until her last day.
I find it almost incomprehensible that coins, notes, stamps and emblems will be gradually erased. She was the constant glue that held us together even though some may not have realised it.
It was my birthday yesterday and now it will be indelibly etched on every subsequent one moving forward - the day the Queen died. People over use the phrase the end of an era but it really is. Time has changed, the loss has reminded me of all of our mortality. Love your loved ones take time with them enjoy them we all go back to stardust eventually.
RIP Elizabeth II
