Outrageous. You could see the stand bouncing before it gave way. Fortunate it was only the bottom part that gave way or a lot of people could have been seriously injured.

I can imagine a few stadia will be checked out by the Dutch government after that incident.

Be great if they were all bopping up and down because they were banging out Chumbawamba at the stadium.

It felt a bit like that at Coventry when Lenny scored.

It's very concerning that a stand just over 20yrs old has suffered a failure, I'd be very worried about sitting anywhere in that ground now.

Well correct me if I'm wrong but weren't all the supporters in the video standing and jumping up and down? Do yo think the stand would have collapsed if they weren't? Gouranga.

Supporters stand and bounce in seated areas, especially at away games. It's a structural issue and a crowd control issue, as I assume the collapsed part of the stand wasn't designed to hold that many people. But people surging to the front like this could happen in any stand, whether it's all-seater; safe-standing or terracing. Also I tried to find out if this is even an official standing area but struggled. It's definitely not a safe-standing area because there are no rails that I can see. It's a structural issue and linking this with safe-standing is absurd.

It’s clearly a design flaw, nothing less. The structural engineers want fucking!

It's a football stadium, so yes, they should have taken such an occurrence into account within their design calculations to be honest.

It won't - when they built a temporary roof over that side of the ground they also rebuilt the foundations and the area supporting the seats.

The crowd jumping up and down can happen in any stand including seated areas and it is probable that this was not catered for when this stand was designed.

It has to be strong enough to withstand far more than that by law. Not just strong enough to house people unless they jump up and down a bit.
