Random thread I know, but my lad was singing this when I got home earlier (watching it in YouTube for some reason) and made me think that didn't we used to sing this back in the day?
Can't remember what our adaptation was though.
Anybody know out there remember?

Dunno, used to sing this but I thought it was more of a post match rugby song, wash down with a pint of urine!
CHORUS: Alouette, gentille Alouette. Alouette, gentille plumerai.
(Start with chorus first and insert it between each verse.)
Leader: Does she have the scraggly hair? Group: Yes, she has the scraggly hair. Leader: Scraggly hair. Group: Scraggly hair. Leader: Alouette. Group: Alouette. Leader: OH!
Continue as above:
Two glass eyes? Broken nose? Two capped teeth? Double chin? Swinging tits? Pot belly? Clammy thighs? Furry thing?

No doubt banned in most/all rugby clubs these days as it promotes domestic violence and is offensive to women.

The original promotes violence against birds , the feathery variety. Odd bunch those Frenchies I remember one verse from the football days but too early for all that.

Oh we hate those V shaped lights That Billy Bell The Groundsmans catβββ ππ Still the best chant Ive heard at a Stoke game, and the version on Bakerloo tube going to Wembley for the cup final was epic Too complicated for the speed songsmiths!

This isn't about violence to women or insulting to women as far as l can see:
How l love her Tatty hair, two glass eyes, broken nose, double chin, sweaty thighs, swollen knees, two flat feet
Unless you're thinking that any if the above were caused by the singer. Surely he's saying he loves her in spite of her 'disfigurements'. It's a celebration of love. Though obviously comedic.
I believe it's originally a WWI song and I don't think that homesick Tommies experiencing years of war are likely to make up ditties about beating up their girlfriends when they get home at last?

Strong continental lager has seen me trying and failing to get this going in The South Stand a few times. In spite of not being 100% on the words myself.
Always good for the ego when the thousands around you are basically patiently waiting for you to finish making a cock of yourself so that they can launch, in joyful unison, into a song about the purchase of a flute as a result of juvenile folly.
