One of first songs I ever learned on guitar and played in a band at school. A shame but after I killed it, you can't blame them

Without that classic I’d want about 9.7982234% of my money back. Ludicrous despite what Mick says

I could add Safe European Homes by the Clash, who sang ‘ where every white face is an invitation to robbery’ ( based on a real incident in Jamaica). Will their middle class fans cancel them? Or hope nobody notices?

Or hope nobody notices? That's Joe's middle class diplomatic corps values coming out in that lyric clearly lol . I love that song and album actually , a Clash album produced by the guy that did all the Blue Oyster Cult records, sounds brilliant if not exactly in the punk ethos. I guess the Stones can play whatever they want in their dotage, I've seen them a few times and wouldn't part with that amount of money this time around. For the bulk of the time , they'd play a long set and a great setlist. I gave up watching Robert Plant years ago too, who effectively redacted his Zeppelin history in favour of differently arranged versions of he'd even play the stuff, or the ever popular "here's yet another off my new album", never seemed the right balance with him. I guess you'd sum me up as really I can't get no satisfaction (sorry!!)

As to Give ‘em Enough Rope, the opening three tracks, starting with Safe European Home, are awesome, the rest, with the exception of Stay Free, pretty average. Particularly compared with what went before and what was to come.

They peaked with London Calling which is a cohesive double and to me went a bit crap shaped after that but Rope is probably the album I revisit most. Love Stay Free . I only ever saw them after Topper and Mick left sadly

(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais is maybe the best example, but Complete Control is arguably the best of their “punk” songs while their finest reggae efforts (excepting Police and Thieves) were only on 45s… I’m thinking Pressure Drop, Armagideon Time and Bank Robber.

Hammersmith Palais is an absolute killer tune. And good point, the Jam were similar on having a lot of non album great songs too, even if the Clash slagged them off in Palais! Used to work near that ballroom , beautiful building and now sadly repurposed as student halls, though they do have a wall in the lobby of classic gig pics. But I digress a,as ever lol

Best thing to do is to ban history and start afresh as of tomorrow. Bulldoze every building that has links to the past other than residential the same with monuments and statues a clean slate.

The Ramones effectivly self-cancelled 'Bonzo Goes to Bitburg'. It was an anti Reagan song written by Johnny - however Tommy was a staunch Republican and refused to play a note of it - consequently it was never played live.
Tommy also nicked Johnny's girlfriend - who's response to which was to write 'The KKK (Took my Baby Away)" - happy families!
In other Ramones trivia they briefly recruited Clem Burke (of Blondie fame) who took the mantle 'Elvis Ramone' - only to quit after 3 months because he coildn't consistently drum fast enough.

Working with the Schools there’s a lot of confusion around some of the lyrics used in rap and drill songs where youngsters seem to think because they’ve heard certain words being said that it’s ok to use them in the public environment when it’s clearly not.
The “n” word is one that is often thrown around without them knowing how offensive it is but because they think they’ve heard rappers using it it’s ok. On occasions it’s caused fights.
There’s a lot of education needed around it as music is such a powerful medium.
