The cut-scenes are way way way too long. I've been on the game for ever and I've watched more than I've played. Sorry, but because of these really annoying things I dont think its the game of the year, in the small parts where you do actually get control of snake and actually play. The game kicks ass. Just wish it was more of a game than a movie. Rant over ;D You'll have to get used to it, the games has almost 90 mins worth of cut scenes =P Hideo Kiojima loves his cut scenes I wouldn't count the game as best of 08' there really is still along way to go till the end of this gaming year, and some companies have some big surprises, plus there's Street Fighter 4 to come yet!!!! XD Its the best game of 08, so far then. We're all absolutely sick of the 'wait til this comes out' 'this is coming out soon and will be fantastic'. We've all been let down so much by Sony, you can't possible say there will be a better game out this year. As for the cut-scenes, its these that give you the full sense of being 'in' the game - if the cut-scenes were not in the game, it wouldn't be half the game it is. As for Streetfighter 4 - I seriously hope you were joking ;D ;D

I wasn't knocking the cut scenes because they are amazing to watch and you can tell alot of work went into them! And as for MGS4 it really is the only thing [except the updatable blu-ray player] that I'd buy a PS3 for at this moment, but LittleBigPlanet is looking damn good. And as for Street Fighter 4, no I was not joking lol I'll always put it as the best fighting series, can't see 4 being better than II' Turbo on the snes though, but I'd love to be proved wrong PS3 gets Bioshock sometime this year, should be a treat for PS3 owners, loved the 360 version

The cutscenes would be fine if you actually had the chance to play for a while before it stormed into another, there is actually very little gameplay in it and the bosses are way to easy (although I've only just started ACT 5 so I'm hoping they get harder, and no I haven't got it on easy) strange how the first beast is actually harder than the other 2 I've taken down.
As for Street Fighter 4 can't wait for that either, the sunny days of Street Fighter II on the SNES still rate as the best games ever! Along with MGS1 for the PS.

Just had a good 2 hours on it and it's living up to expectation, graphics are awesome, ganmeplay awesome (even taking a while get use to), Storyline is quality and I've only just reached Drebin, I'm taking it slow really. I got clocked once and had half the PMC's chasing me down the fooking street so much for Otocamo. An me being the doppy shite I am, when i got to the MIlitia base still thinking they were enemy i tookl out 5 of em and now they hate me. Oh and what the hell are they dodgy adverts about at the beginning and the jap girl fying eggs Hideo must have some strange dreams. I'm exactly the same Hippo - taking it really slow as footie is on til 10ish then the mrs wants to watch something called Big Brother (??). So I only get about an hour a night. Just started Act 2 last night. Another thing I really like, over previous MGS games, is Drebin's shop - Man has he got some badass guns !!! But MGS4 has me hooked now and can't wait to get home each night to play it. GTAiv got so boring after a week, which was a shame, but havnt played it now for about a month !! As for all the 'waiting games' - I'm personally looking forward to: Little Big Planet Killzone 2 Prototype This is Vegas Gears 2

Exactly the same Dee didn't play on it after i completed the story mode i got bored of it and didn't play on it for 3 weeks. As for the comments on the mgs cutscenes, just wait until you've completed it until you speak about there not being enough gameplay, (unless you have then fair do's) but the fact that the story to the game as whats kept me hooked to it throughout the series means i doubt I'll be disappointed.

I have to add though that you are talking bollocks. The 360 is still far cheaper than the PS3 - just look on any gaming website. Dee, i don't want to get into a slanging match over the Xbox360 v PS3 bt it is you my friend who is talking total bollocks. On release* the Xbox360 Core system cost £210.The HD drive came in at £130. The 20gb hard drive cost £70. Subscription to Xbox Live £35. This total cost alone is £445 whereas the PS3 release price was £425. I'll let you do the maths ??? * = When i bought it.

Don't think that you've got an argument Sugar Ray when it comes to pricing. With the xbox360, when you add the the items that you were not included, hard drive, hd drive etc, it worked out more expensive than the PS3. ;D ;D ;D ;D 3sunrises Says nothing on your post that you are going off 2005 prices!! TODAY the 360 is cheaper than the PS3 FACT (just look on ANY gaming website)

;D ;D ;D Yes i know that the Xbox is cheaper now but i was refering to when the console was first released compared to when the PS3 was released. IMO you got more for your money with the PS3 than you did with the Xbox. On reflection i could have stated my original post better. FACT - I was going on 2006 not 2005 prices, try looking on some decent gaming sites for more information.

ah, well in that case.. ..my PS2 cost more than my 360 - £350 with extra controllers and games (when it came out ) Don't understand what your point is at all. The 360 costs less than the PS3 - FACT. You can't possibly go back to 2005/06 prices and quote the 360 is more expensive than the PS3 cuz it aint. (Incidentally, the 360 came out in May 2005 - check on wikipedia or any other good information websites !)

As i said i could have put it better. I'm afraid you are wrong -FACT. The xbox360 was released in the USA in November 2005, December for the uk. Check the site you quoted mate. ;D ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360Back onto the original title of the thread. The game gets better as you go along, can't wait to finish it and start again as i think i've missed shit loads out, it's that vast.

Who cares about PS3 and XBOX 360 end of the day millions will buy one and millions will buy the other. So lets keep the peace and discuss the finer details of that Doctor Octopus/Psycho Mantis thing you cross paths with just before the PMC base now thats bloody weird.

Just finished act one, and can anyone tell me what X does during the cutscene i.e. does it skip them or does it show you a flash back or something, because it says flashbacks watched at the end of the act stats.

Yes mate, they are flashbacks from previous MG games. Pressing X doesn't skip them. Did you know that at the end of the act, during the cutscenes, you can control the MK II and collect items like an extra battery? (comes in really handy later in the game)

By accident mate. During the 'Mission Briefing' when "press select for help" came up i pressed select and then square button when the briefing went split screen and suddenly had control of the MKII in one of the screens. You can then wander around 2 floors to collect a few items. You can also view the MKII in full screen mode to make it easier to navigate it around but i can't remember what button i pressed. I'm sure that there is plenty of other stuff that i have missed during gameplay, can't wait to finish it and go through it again.

Ooooh on the mission breifing thought you ment the cutscene with liquid before that. I did get a camera up at one point in the breifing that could move up and down didn't realise it was the MK.II

Ok I'm on the fourth act and it just keeps getting better and better, the title of this thread fits the game perfectly, the twist after the third act was brilliant, and i must of watched about 3 hours of cutscenes, but who cares because they were really good.
I really think they should make a film outa this series, would be amazing.

Still with you all the way Hippo The bit at the end of 3, where it reverts back to MGS1 and the old graphics, is absolute genius. Re-visiting the old Pray Mantis area, and where you rescued Otacon from the locker, pure quality. You're very very right - it just keeps on getting better and better. (And i've also watched mainly all of the cut scenes ((Liquid on the boat - awesome)). Can Hideo tell a story or what ;D ;D )

Haha Psycho Mantis Dee not Pray sorry for being Pedantic And damn right Hideo can tell a story, just the fact you go back to MGS1 and shadow moses made the game for me, i really think they should consider making a movie out of it and not an animated one a real one like silent hill, would be great.
