Shouldn’t the main even be sport and not people talking about it?
Don’t see the issue.

Shouldn’t the main even be sport and not people talking about it? Don’t see the issue. The “main event” should be what the majority of people want to watch. It doesn’t matter to them, it’s still on SKY, I just found it a bit annoying as it’s a bit of a chore to change channels for me. Long story🤣 The women’s game could easily of just been put on Sky Sports Football as it just football, not a main event.

They've been trying their hardest to push women's football onto the football watching public.
It's absolutely wank. Football is the best sport in the world bar none, but women playing it is fucking painful to watch, and no matter how much Sky try and bull it up, it'll never be watched by the majority of the football watching public.

In the early days about 10 yrs ago women’s football was a breath of fresh air. Then the cynical part of the men’s game plus the interview cliches crept in and now it’s just a crap extension of the game. Real disappointment after a promising start.

Some women's sport is amazing. Tennis and squash are two that immediately spring to mind. Even women's UFC is always good to watch. For whatever reason though (in my opinion of course) women's football just doesn't work as a mass consumer product. I don't know why but it's just very unwatchable in my eyes compared to the other sports I mentioned. I don't entirely know why it's the case, maybe something to do with the team aspect? There's a big push to get more people watching, and maybe it will grow and my perception will become a minority view; but I'm highly dubious that this huge push by the corporations is ever going to lead to the current forced coverage ever becoming close to justified by the demand.

The papers are giving more pages to it than Div 1 and 2. There’s just nowhere near that much interest to justify the coverage.

Glad that the womens game is getting bigger and better, why shouldn’t they have a decent league to watch? I will say that the standard is still pretty poor, but it appears to be improving. I think they’re at a disadvantage playing in full size goals and full size pitch. I think changing that (logistically probably not going to happen) might help to improve the game. It should be that if you’re not interested, which I’m largely not, although I do see some matches, then turn over to another channel maybe?

Its all over the Sky and BBC sports websites. Does anyone actually watch it? As said above, you see a scoreline and automatically think SHIT, I missed that, and then see its a womens match, not PL, played in front of one man and his dogs. PC gone totally mad. Its being pushed and pushed but not really grabbing anyones attention, but those pushing, have to keep pushing or face the consequences. Mental, just like Boris. Andrew Marr.... so Mr PM, did you really know back in June that there will be a HGV driver shortage? Boris, there are 100,000 pigs that will have to be killed!! Fuck me sideways, take me back to the 70's when the world stood still.

I happened to see some of the Chelsea Women's game on Saturday and it was being played at a non-league ground (Kingstonian) with a low crowd. Viewing figures aren't great either apparently.
It does seem to be getting coverage way above the actual interest in it- the other day, BBC Football's home page was essentially split into three parts- Premier League, Women's and then Scottish. The Championship- one of the best supported leagues in Europe- seems far less prominent on the sites these days.
The problem is I think the media are in too deep with this now and don't want to be seen as losing face or being un-PC by reducing coverage. By all means show the games and cover the news online, but online coverage should be more reflective of interest- give it it's own tab separate from the men's (if only to avoid confusion over some headlines).
Interestingly, the BBC site gives more coverage to the Scottish League than the Welsh or N Irish ones. Why would that be?

They didn't just cut it off though, they said WSL would be on the main event channel and to carry on listening to after match analysis and manager interviews go to skysports premier.
