Coventry look good... I thought they would finish rock bottom Yes, Coventry are one of the surprise packages to me. And, of course, Stoke are a surprise package to some of our more pessimistic fans!

Obviously only a quarter of the season in and so we have no idea if this is just great form or sustainable, but if it’s the latter, that second place doesn’t look as ridiculous as it sounded at the beginning of the season.
We have to be insanely lucky with regards to injuries to stand any sort of chance of getting in the top spots (1-6) though.

I don’t think so, back-ups of Bursik Duhaney/Ince Baath/Chester/Fox Doughty/Fox Thompson/Sawyers/Clucas/Tash OB Surridge/Fletcher/Campbell/Sima There is depth and cover everywhere. Sure freak injuries could derail us but I think we have some of the deepest depth in the league

Sure freak injuries could derail us but I think we have some of the deepest depth in the league 100 percent, whether that holds us in good stead remains to be seen, but you look beyond fulham and maybe west brom and Bournemouth, we have strength in depth that others In the league simply don't have. Its a good place to be for sure

Not to take anything away from Coventry, they have started well, however, they had a massive helping hand from Fulham today, abysmal defending to say the least.

So MON heads up to Scotland for a 'watching brief' and we plummet down the table while he's away. Sort it out MON FFS!

Every team by now knows that Fulham relies heavily on Mitrovic.

It seems that we fall into three distinct camps: the pessimists who view any Stoke success through a large filter of Imposter Syndrome, and are just waiting for the whole thing to implode, especially when we “play the bigger teams”; and the optimists who think we are nailed on promotion candidates, and think we are just biding our time, waiting for Tyrese to return and lead us to an unassailable automatic promotion place; and the realists, who recognise that we are “one of the bigger teams”, should have nothing really to fear, and are one of about six clubs with a decent chance of promotion this season, would be happy with a play off place, but expect a few bumps along the road, because that’s what happens in a tight league like the Championship.

Pretty much sums up the stoke fan camps very well. I'm in the realist atm, but Tyrese coming back can move me into the optimist camp

You forgot the fourth group… albeit a tiny group, mainly comprising of some very unique individuals. The group who believe supporting Stoke involves slating us, our players, managers and board at every opportunity, who’s analysis (debatable use of the word) is another planet away from what the other 50,000 odd Stokies witnessed and are just basically batshit ludicrous. If you can’t think of any fans that are part of this group, then it’s likely to be you.

Mad to think if we beat Barnsley and Preston we’d be joint top.
I think we are having the best performances in the league (bar maybe Coventry) even though were not winning every game.

Had a bit of luck also. Huddersfield we could easily have dropped points. Both the games you mentioned though we were easily the better side . Am I right in thinking that Barnsley the only team to have taken points or a point at our place or forgetting one ?

We've won all our games in league and cup at home this season, except the one we should have won 8-1!

Stoke fans as optimists. Fck me thats a new one. As long as I have supported this club (i.e. since birth) we've been 3 players off a good side (a concept currently manifesting itself as a "ball playing DM" away from being a good side.....)* Edit. For the record we are finishing top 2 this year - (unless we implode, or Tyrese doesn't come back or a few bumps happen along the way), no, sod it, we are finishing top 2.* *possibly

Not sure if it balances out, but either way we are a decent championship outfit at long last!

Sack the manager ? we are level on points in the playoff positions with one of the youngest teams in our recent history, rid of all the leeches who have been draining the club dry. If we make the playoffs great it’s a added bonus, but this would be O’Neils first proper season and I think most people can see a improvement, this season is for building a team for a full on promotion challenge ffs.
