Really enjoyed that. The lad went with me he must have been the youngest there by a couple of decades Somehow I was forced to see Lulu at Buxton Opera House a few years ago, probably about 50 at the time and undoubtedly we were the youngest in there. Hated every minute of it more so as at the interval they were serving tea and coffee, they even had some bloke trying to whip the crowd up to create an atmosphere, which wasn’t going to happen in a million years. Buxton Opera House was really nice though.

Buxton Opera House was really nice though. He wasn't forced to go he genuinely likes the music. He's said no more times than I care to remember Years back I remember going to see Roger Waters perform The Wall at the Arena in Manchester with a mate and after a succession of no's I didn't bother asking the lad. He was 14 and kicked off when he found I was going. Fortunately due to demand they put another date on so I got to see it twice.

I've never seen them from back in the day, too young initially then too poor I was informed that his voice had diminished over the years but to be fair it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected. He was intelligent, articulate and humorous as ever and the band were very good. Great set, great delivery just missing Life's a long song and Minstrel in the gallery for me but plenty of highlights with Upper class the highlight for me and Bourree probably hitting all the right spots for the audience along with Locomotive Breath. A lovely civilised evening out started at 7:30 prompt and finishing at 9:30 prompt allowing him time to get back to his cats Very minimalist / imtimate show and I enjoyed it but sound was appalling in the first 20 mins then got better but still poor - maybe as we were sitting in the gods? - his voice is struggling for sure but at 74 with COPD blowing into his flute whist on one leg guess that was pretty damn good! Songs from the Wood, Thick as a Brick, Living in the Past were highlights for me - Aqualung sounded a bit weird but a decent show on the whole...... Have to agree with everything you say there. I too was in the gods down the side and at times thought the vocals sounded a bit like the old Norman Collier broken mike routine. I liked the re-working of Aqualung and one of the highlights for me was Bouree which is one of my favourite Tull tracks anyway. On the whole a good gig but like I said to my mate afterwards I think that's the last time I'll probably go and see them now unless it's a full on reunion with Martin Barre, Barrymore Barlow et al.

Seen Fleetwood Mac twice. Utter shit live. Save your money mate. Saw Fleetwood Mac at Maine Road in 1990 and they were fantastic. Enjoyed their albums, but as for a live band, they were a cure for insomnia. Very short set too.

I'm mad then having seen three bands over 20 times each in my 20 years of gig going. I know people who've seen the same band well over a hundred times too. I considered the Jethro Tull gig (and Rumours of Fleetwood Mac tonight) but am sticking to the gigs I want to go to most of all at the moment. Seen Fleetwood Mac twice. Utter shit live. Save your money mate. Maybe the tribute band would be better then. I'm mad then having seen three bands over 20 times each in my 20 years of gig going. I've only seen one band, Belle and Sebastian over 20 times, it takes some doing seeing a band that often. I reckon over the years I've only been in double figures with a few artists, Al Stewart, Joan Armatrading, U2 Here's my top 20ish: 44 British Sea Power (loads of unique stuff amongst this including film soundtracks, full albums, acoustic sets, b-side sets, a gig at the Natural History Museum) 39 Mostly Autumn (included a 5-hour epic where they played an acoustic set, a classics set, a full album, Christmas cover songs and a set of Pink Floyd covers) 26 Feeder (in 2000, the first band I went to see live and likely the reason I've been to so many gigs since) 16 Teenage Fanclub 10 The Tonics (excellent Stoke band who were only around for a few years) 9 James 8 Alfa 9 (still a going concern I believe, and I forgot to mention them in the local bands thread) 8 Heather Findlay 7 Delays 7 Slowdive 7 God is an Astronaut 7 Wolf Alice 6 The Coral 6 Manic Street Preachers (soon to be 7) 6 Yndi Halda 5 The Thrills 5 Mono I've seen Belle and Sebastian twice.

Schoolboy error surely you meant to type the politically correct Sea Power Somehow the name change slipped my mind, but that was copy and past above. They don't have any t-shirts on sale with the new name yet. I need one of those or at least a gig with the new name to remind me.

I should've gone Melbourne as well.
