You have to remember that Bayern was a big Angus Gunn fan. He's still pissed at Davies for being better than Gunn. It's not about Bursik - it's about Bayern.

Davies has been excellent for us and really got dropped when he did nothing wrong which was harsh. Bersik needs competition to make him a beer keeper Like a landlord ? 😂😂😂better keeper😃

What I’ve wrote is perfectly fine. “Relugated” I mean he was but it was down to the injury more than anything and us not seeing that and selling him. We developed a goalkeeper that was highly thought of, valued and got to play for England. The issue was once he had become the experienced player. I really don’t see your point here. Players should be developed for Stoke not England And no player is bigger than the club We would be doing it for us ffs.

He’s just an average goalie who will more than likely be in league one next year. And Gunn has had a way better career than Davies 😂

We have always played better with Davies in the team and as an earlier poster pointed out the stats don't lie - Davies is a better keeper. Feels weird to keep your best goalie out the team because of possible potential of the younger lad, especially when Davies has 4-5 years to go in his prime Last season we were dogshit with him in the side. We’ve mainly been good with Bursik in the side this season. I don’t think there’s correlation in the slightest between the two may I add! The young goalie as well could easily make us 20m quid if we do it right. I don’t think that potential is to be sniffed at. And yes it’s not guarantee but he’s definitely earmarked for England. We’ve got to give him the platform to get there. How can you say we were dog shite with Davies in goal last season? Was it a record clean sheets or something like that? Constantly playing someone to hopefully make us 20m quid no matter what he plays like or how it could affect his confidence coming into no man's land to effectively cost us the game at derby. I can imagine your response if it was the other way around and Davies was in goal at Derby and did the same.

And as said and have said again, I don’t think it was anything to do with the keeper how we played last season like it hasn’t been this. He’s had one bad game. He hasn’t been an issue and the reaction to him has been very strange. Yeah I wouldn’t have the same patience with an experienced player. Isn’t that how it’s meant to be? There’s more leeway with younger players. But again, that’s needed. At the moment I think we have a great young talent who has had one bad game and people are losing their shit over nothing.

Blindly isn't maybe the best word, but applying a lack of statistical based logic or rationale. . Maybe if promotion was an unrealistic possibility then yeah focus on developing the youth. But we're in a position where we can challenge and we should be playing our Strongest XI when possible not the Best Potential XI. What argument is there to play Bursik other than "potential". Honestly, I couldn’t give a monkeys about stats. Again never been any different and don’t hide it. Bursik is imo better at command and kicking, Davies is a better shot stopper but I don’t think he’s let any in this season he should have saved bar the second against Derby. I think the difference is marginal in terms of their overall contribution. I don’t see it as developing him, I think he’s an equal who has a chance of becoming something that could either get us promoted or earning us 10-20m pounds in transfer fees or both. So from an equalish footing talent wise now and with that projection he has I think you stick with him. He hasn’t been an issue this season bar one game. That’s the bottom line imo. Bursik is better at command and kicking? His kicking has been diabolical this season, other than passing short from a stopped ball every time he has to clear it it goes out for a throw in our own half. Command(ing?) He’s also flapped at corners/crosses into the box quite a bit and his last game he did the opposite of commanding, he scared our own defenders with rash and needless rushing out to the edge of the box. It’s just at times been poor kicking and decision making which can be taught to correct and improved upon. There something to be said for also not letting young players get too big headed and comfortable, taking their spot for granted. If your form slips, then you’re replaced. We saw this happen with Butland (ya, I know, the injury), he became comfortable and then had one eye on the ‘bigger’ club coming in.

For me, as we are playing through the centre halves anyway, distribution from the keeper is not a massive issue Give Davies a run and see what happens for me

We have two good keepers on the books now, and to be honest, I'm happy with either playing..... However, if I had to choose a preferred keeper, it would have to be Davies!!!

It’s been poor but overall yes and I don’t think Davies is an improvement in that area or even close. I disagree about the flapping comment. He’s been fine. And I agree there is a lot to be said for that. Dropping him after one bad game is fucking madness though.

I'd play Davies.
Bursik needs to know that any slip in standard he may be spending a period of time on the bench.
It'll set him up well for the future.

Can’t wait to read this thread if Davies drops a clanger on satdee. It'll only take the one. Great selection dilemma for MON though having 2 good keepers.

I haven’t suggested dropping him, and I would be discouraged to doing it to a promising young GK but…. It’s not like we’re just giving some random alternative a go, we have a solid enough keep in Davies. Everything doesn’t have to be vehemently for or against Bayern, people are just saying Davies has a good shout, you disagree, cool. Really not madness and yet the manic and mania with which you respond/post on matters is something closer to that notion.

It's a difficult one because keeper is such an all-or-nothing selection and it's not fair to keep chopping and changing.
Davies has been consistently very good - but he is in his final year and won't be renewing to be anything other than No.1. And that's not going to work here
Bursik is the future and really could be worth big money.
I don't think Bursik has been bad enough to justify the change, given the contract status of the two and what we assume is the long-term plan for the keeper department.

Thinking there's an agenda against the manager or whoever because soemone wants one keeper over the I don't think I'd ever be able to leave my house if I was that paranoid

I like Bursik and want him to do well, but Davies is (IMO) hugely unlucky not to be the starting no 1 this season - he was almost flawless last season and last night showed us what we've been missing. If we are serious about mounting a challenge this year he should be starting. But, if this season is being viewed as being more about consolidation and financial improvement then i can understand why he isn't.

I’d be more comfortable with Davies for now. Although I don’t like the thought of Bursik sitting on the bench, shame we couldn’t get him out to someone to play every game. He’s going to be a great keeper, for now though we need the most solid keeper as we have a real chance of going up this year, we can’t afford to incubate a young keeper right now.

Stick with Bursik, we need a settled defence. Davies is a good keeper but Bursik has not made any howlers.

Personally I think Davies should have started the season and didn't deserve to be dropped after the end of last season, and Joe should have been the one to work his way into the side.

It’s a tricky one for sure. I really like both keepers. Bursik is obviously the better prospect both in ability and financially. Saying that, Davies has rarely put a foot (or glove) wrong and has deserved far more games for us than he has been given. Being inexplicably kept out of the side for Butland and Gunn (2 more “fashionable” names perhaps?)

Its a tough one - Bursik will be a top top keeper in the future and he will come good, but has he shown that he is our best keeper at the moment. For me, it's a no. Davies, as evidenced in last night's display, is our best keeper, commands his box better, inspires those in front of him and is performs to a more consistent standard. In my opinion, he was very unfortunate to be dropped this season and would be my personal preference as no.1.
