See, this is another small thing that will help the MLS - getting coaches like Andy. I won't say that Andy is the greatest GK coach who ever lived. But he was good and he was at Stoke ffs. He's miles better than what most MLS sides will have.
Goalkeeping in the MLS is more of a crap shoot than it should be. Athletic ability is there, but the training is not. Quality at GK hasn't kept up with the improvement elsewhere. For one thing, too many MLS GK's punch or swat at balls that they should be smothering. I'm sure Andy has other improvements in mind and could be part of a GK evolution in the league. Good luck Andy! I hope you find happiness in Charlotte, it's a good place to live. The "DNA" of the whole MLS needs coaches like this.

"For one thing, too many MLS GK's punch or swat at balls that they should be smothering." Did he ever do any work with Davies? Davies is very similar to a lot of MLS keepers that I've seen, yes. I may be wrong but wasn't Andy gone by the time Davies got here?

The "DNA" of the whole MLS needs coaches like this. Sounds like you may have some pedigree in the GK coaching world? I was just wondering on you saying he’s good but not great. I’ve always associated him with a well established period with us where we generally always excelled in the gk department. I said this on a Davies thread a few week ago: The period Quy was with us we always had at least 2 awesome keeps so he was either great at helping with scouting and/or coaching. During his time with us he was involved with: Simonsen/Sorenson/Nash/Bachmann/Bego/Butland/Given/Grant/Bursik
