I might be missing something but have the club got rid of ball boys? I sit in the Q-railing stand and I’m pretty sure I have not seen a ball boy this season so far, is this a covid rule as they don’t seem have hospitality guests on the pitch pre kick off now either.

Dunno, but on a tangent are they 'ball people' these days? Surely a girl would be equally adept at retrieving and returning a ball as a boy, and perhaps more diligent in their work ? ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

They are pointless in the age of 100 match balls.

On another note, had a young lad at the match yesterday and went to see if he could get some photos as they arrived, is it coz of Covid that they don’t come out to meet the fans and anyone know if they plan on doing it again?

There were certainly some ball boys / girls yesterday but I thought their performance was poor. They were very slow at retrieving the ball and didn’t look like they knew what they were doing. I did wonder if they had received any proper training.
This played right into Huddersfield’s hands as they were clearly keen to slow the game down at every opportunity and break up any momentum in our play.
I think it’s an area that MON needs to look at.

The tracksuit I mean Ahhhhh Bourne Sports, the hours me and my bro spent in there looking at kit we knew we couldn't buy. The sports version of Wonkas factory. I miss that place and nearly, but not quite cried when I heard it had finally closed.

Steve Bourne was/is a very good squash player, I'm sure he was part of the Bourne dynasty who ran this sporting institution. I bought a 'fire damage' Birmingham City shirt in Bourne Sports for 30 pence, it got me through 3 years at University so not bad value! It was this one, modelled here by Trevor Francis, football's first million pound player. A million pound player in a 30 pence shirt, something incongruous about that! ![Trevor Francis](https://i2-prod.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article1320187.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Trevor-Francis.jpg)

Every time I take my young lad to Sports Direct or some other non descript place I feel the pain that I will never be able to show him the wonder of that MAGICAL place. It actually had an atmosphere and a character to it. The car park at the back, rushing to buy a parking ticket for me mum so we could get in there asap. In through the back door, past the little room on the left where they had tennis rackets on some machine that straightened the strings (I am tearing up now ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif) ). I try and tell him but he doesn't understand.

Or you have some very serious explaining to do… I had all sorts of tops when I was a kid. The strangest one being a Crystal Palace one circa 1982 or something like that, no idea why, maybe they were top of the league, who knows. The mighty potters were always my team though. We all have phases. Funny enough my lad is a mank as he was born here and lived here his whole life and supports man Utd (difficult but you know deal with it). Bought him a Newcastle top for his birthday cos I found one for a fiver in Sports Direct and thought it would be a bit of a joke. Thought he would hate it. He won't take it off. Kids hey

Don't blame 'em. They don't know who they are, or if they are carrying the virus. There are still plenty of idiots not had the jab without good reason!

Didn't the ball boys, as they were at the Victoria Ground used to wear Dale Sports Bibs over their tracksuits. Now that was a sports store I liked & probably visited more than I did Bourne Sports. Attachment Deleted

View Attachment Dales was great but too damn expensive. Bournes was where the deals were. My first shirt when I was 6 was an Everton one (from Hanley Meat Market) bought by my mum, God rest her, in what would be described these days as an ‘economically driven decision’.

The ball person in front of the area i was sat was wearing Stoke training kit and a very short haircut bloke not the quickest returning the ball but that suited Huddersfield style

The ball retriever in front of us was sat in the aisle at the front of the stand so I guess he only retrieved balls which came over the hoardings.

Because pitchside in front of the Q railing is classed as a red zone so limited people, you are not allowed to have children as ball retrievers. For the last 18 months, the club have used the ground staff as they have been tested and vaccined etc.

And my first shirt, bought for me by my mum when I was about six, was Wolves. Only because, as I was flicking through my Footie stickers collection, I happened to mention that I liked the colour of the Wolves kit. She was fishing for ideas for Christmas presents and, lo and behold, come the day……. . Trouble is, my next shirt was Wolves as well, even though I was a pretty nailed on Stokie by then! I think my mum just liked the colour. And I had to wear it to PE lessons at secondary school. You don’t really know humiliation until you’ve spent every PE lesson in adolescence being called ‘Yellow’ by the PE teacher (who, of course never knew anyone’s name, so used any identifying feature to identify us). Nothing against Wolves, though. But I bloody hate yellow!

She/he/they could barely climb over the advertising hoarding to get the ball.

I think having a bin full of baseball bats reduced to 1.99 on a match day v Wolves was a bad idea. I remember as a kid going in to buy one as used to play baseball (yes I know) and I think a few had been...liberated. They had the odd NASL shirt in there. Managed to find a Dertroit Express but itched like mad as Admiral shirts did

View AttachmentGod Dale's - that takes me back - my Dad was a regular in there and always got a discount. Think I was more interested in Fenders and Gibsons in Chatfields over the road though...
