Delighted with the 3 points today. It was critical to bounce back after Fulham (who've somehow lost 1-0 at Blackpool today, crazy league!) and we have a real platform now to kick on in the next two games, which on paper aren't as tough as this. (crazy league though...)
Performance wise I don't think it was great and would feel hard done by as a Huddersfield supporter. Nigel Johnson summised that we shaded it but I think the opposite. Hopefully the pre-season predictions of struggle for Huddersfield are miles off and we've just unknowingly won a playoff/promotion 6 pointer? We'll play much better than that and lose this season for sure.
Disappointed with Surridge today, his holdup and link up play was poor IMO. Hopefully he can improve on that aspect in the same way Brown appears to have improved. I was missing Fletcher at times, and from the moment he came on we just seemed to have more nous in the final 3rd. Brown/Fletcher for Barnsley please.
A sign of a team destined for good things when you don't play great and win?

Agreed.
Great 3 points but just an average performance with some players not performing well.
Leo seemed well pumped with the win at the end 🤣
Should be great at Derby

I’ll take that.
I love the smell of three points on a Saturday afternoon.
It smells like… victory.

I thought they looked a decent team and we shaded out a competitive game. I think we're getting good results and putting in performances that merit them.
I'm terrified of Souttar going in January.

I honestly don’t think a single one of our lot played well today but we won.
It’s good but there’s so much to work on. And that’s exciting too.
The midfield didn’t work today at all.

I thought Surridge made some great touches in the first half, but never really had anyone coming to take the ball from him when he got it. He’ll get better with that part of his game I feel. I’d trust him more to bury a chance in the box than Fletcher, who is however a much better target man. It was a really boring match, but they’ve won three on the bounce and their fans seem to believe that they should be around top 10 this season.

Fergie always used say the good teams find a way win when they don't play well, and we did that today. Think apart from brown we didn't have a player perform over a 6, but at least we got the win against a bang in form side.

Wilmot went backwards far too much and occasionally it might have been disastrous. Look forward and play simply and quickly. There were times when he totally ignored Tymon when a simple pass was on and passed into more crowded areas.

I think udders are a decent side especially going forward
We made loads of mistakes and gave away some pointless fouls but it was a relatively close game
3 points is 3 points

Thought we poor pretty much throughout, we just couldn’t get any tempo to our play going.
Always nice to win though and especially from a losing position. Something we just haven’t been able to do for a few years now so hopefully that’s another corner turned.
With Campbell, Powell and Sima to come into the side things are certainly looking good.

Total lack of impetus from both sides.

Meh is very generous to describe the performance. We were appalling throughout. No movement in midfield, nothing up front and most of the match with three centre backs passing it amongst themselves.
Garbage football but a welcome three points.

I confess I only saw the highlights.
But.
To be struggling in a game against a form side. Then go behind.
And still turn it around.
That’s an indication that there’s a lot more steel and a bit more quality about us.
Oh. And what a fucking header from Jacob. Outstanding.

It's only an issue when you're not winning.

Our tempo is deliberately quite slow- we keep possession and wait for openings, then quicken the tempo at certain points in the game. It's not that exciting to watch, but we always seem to have the upper hand in terms of territory and possession.
Looks like some people are mistaking that for playing poorly. We weren't poor today: we were in control of the game and looking like we'd do to Huddersfield what we did to Forest in the last home game. Once they scored, we quickened up and got back in the game straight away.

I said on another thread that our corners and free kicks have improved to the point where they are actual threats now. Some of our crosses are actually going to Stoke targets! Not only is the kick better, but the movement off the ball - there actually IS some movement now. And that header - we're figuring out what to do with these crosses. Long may this live.

They came from a draw and to waste time. After the first ten minutes they just sat in and we struggled to break them down but un til Sawyers went off they never had any decent possession. Considering our best three attackers (Powell, Campbell and Sima) were out it was a decent battling performance - just what is needed in this division
