The final against Holland seems to be on youtube at 5pm (presumably he'll be starting) Thanks for the link Grapey - I will try to watch it.

When he leaves we should retire his shirt. If we get the kind of money that helps to secure the future of the club and saves us from major FFP issues like Birmingham had prior to Bellingham, then I agree.

Yeah - would have thought some time this season for the u23s, certainly. I think Sankoh would have ended up getting on the pitch for us quite a bit last season if he'd stayed. I don't think you can really criticise them for the way they handled him. But you can't blame him for going to Stuttgart either, just one of those things. He had more attractive options www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-mo-sankoh-4406991Stoke were preparing a contract that would have put him level with some of the better paid players in pre-salary cap League One and Michael O'Neill and his trusted lieutenant Andy Cousins made personal interventions to encourage him to stay. Just hope Tezgel doesn't get anything offered to him that turns his head. You'd think the passage to the first-team would be easier for him than at a Premier League club, and if he is from a Stoke-supporting family, that'd help too. But you can't rule out his head being turned if a big club did happen to knock on his door. It's still very unusual for players under 18 to get regular games in the Championship though, isn't it? www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/juengsteaelteste/wettbewerb/GB2/plus//galerie/0?saisonIdVon=2021&saisonIdBis=2021&land_id=&pos=&spielerposition_id=Hardly any this season - but there's always the odd, special one like Elliott at Liverpool who's a freak who handled it at Blackburn no problem And there's always a tricky, developmental period until they're potentially ready for the first team. Oh god yeah we did all we could. But that’s the real difference, he’s played there and become a regular on the bench already. It’s a massive draw. Speaking Mo Sankoh, he’s now fresh out of surgery apparently from ligament damage. Will be interesting to see if he makes it in football now. That’s a huge blow. German clubs definitely seem to better incorporate young talent. If Tezgel was good enough in a couple of years, I imagine it would be easier to get a few senior games at teams like Man City, where you are regularly 3-0 up at half time. Actually breaking into that side though seems an almost impossible task for most.

If he ended up turning down a pro contract, it'd go to tribunal, wouldn't it?
And we'd probably get a pittance (assuming he'd never played for the first team at that point)
I think the Bellingham fee was huge because he and his family had said he was going to sign a pro deal at Birmingham (whether he had any real intention of staying there or not), knowing there were already takers at £25m+ anyway and it suited him and Birmingham to go for that kind of fee.
Just had a quick look, and Fulham were only able to get an initial £1.2m for Harvey Elliott (rising to a possible £4m) despite his reputation, Exeter only got £2.5m for Ampadu, despite him already playing twice for the full Wales team, WBA got about £3-4m for Morgan Rogers from Man City.
And Campbell cost us £1.25m plus another 500k if he plays for England.
Anyway, probably getting ahead of ourselves - because he could well stay - and we still don't have any real idea of just how good he is and what his potential ceiling is, as he continues to develop. We'll have a clearer idea in 12-18 months.
It would have been interesting to see what compensation we'd have got for Sankoh if he had gone to Spurs or Chelsea, as had been rumoured for a while - certainly a lot more than the flat £150k we got from Stuttgart.

So we've paid the full 1.25 so far, with just the possible 500k for an England cap still possible www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-city-transfer-news-campbell-13294881

Impressed with his physicality though. The Dutch defenders are bigger than him and he’s dealing with that well.

1-0 down at half time. Dutch scored after 30 minutes when our keeper spilled a long free kick which he should have held on to, and it fell to a Dutch forward. I'd like to see the foul leading to the free kick in slow motion. It almost looked like one Dutch player ran into another! Like a lot of Continental sides, the Dutch don't half make a meal of every bit of physical contact. For big strong lads they don't half spend a lot of time horizontal! Emre hasn't had much decent service to speak of. As bayern says, he is looking up to the job physically against a decent defence. We have to hope that a good chance or two comes his way in the second half.

Nothing Tezgel can do here unless those behind him keep the ball better and actually use it well.

Good physicality again for the goal. Diagonal in and won the header and took the keeper out with it.

That’s should add a couple of million when one of those Super League teams come calling.

If we had managed to give Emre the service for 90 minutes that we managed in the last 10 minutes he could have scored a hatful. Our midfield never really got to grips with the game until the last quarter. Their 3rd was down to us chasing the game - as so often happens.

He's got to go into the U23's sharpish
Can always put him back in the U18's
Going to be unlikely that we will keep him😠

Give him a clear pathway and a decent wage though (based on incentives) and we might keep him. It’s difficult though isn’t it. Is he good enough to be on the bench semi regularly in the next 12-18 months? No idea. But that’s the sort of offer we will need to make to make it resonate I reckon.

Well done Emre!!
