I remember the record by bouzouki player Mikis Theodorakis at home when growing up. I was impressed, and still am. He was great. Composer and conductor.
Now dead at the age of 96.
R.i.p Mikis and continue to play!
"O'Zorbas", for instance

Excellent obituary in today's Telegraph, he was quite the political firebrand when young, amazing he survived really.
I never knew that Dick Dale's Miserlou was originally a Lebanese piece written for the bouzouki...

Great tune, and it takes me back to my childhood (I think Zorba was released in 1964 ?) Me and the wife love going to the Greek islands for our hols and really like going to the bars and tavernas to listen to the Greek music. We're booked to go back to Kos next September - we originally booked in 2019 to go in 2020 but it's been delayed twice due to Covid - fingers crossed it third time lucky !
