Fulham and West Brom top of Championship
Norwich bottom of the Prem.
Is promotion and relegation becoming a closed shop like the top 6 in Prem?
These clubs are smart with their finances - dont over in the Prem and keep their squads together - too good for Champ and too shit for Prem.
Its another case of money ruining competition in football.

Arsenal are rock bottom of the Premier League
(Just chucking it in because I’m not sure how much longer we’ll get to say it)

We tend to be more of a yo club, as the string gets cut before we can recoil back up.

Brentford would disagree that promotion to the Prem is a closed shop - weren't children still sent up chimneys to sweep them when Brentford were last in the top flight? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

Yo yo clubs - another consequence of the ridiculous anti-competition rules known as FFP.
Clubs with the financial clout to stay in the Prem can’t spend their money to get out of the Championship.

A lot of the teams who become yo-yo clubs tend to be the sides who won't compromise on what it actually takes to survive when they go up and so come straight back down because all of a sudden that attacking edge they had in the Championship is average or lower in the premier league and the attacking play they in turn come up against is superior.
Looking at Fulham yesterday, despite a poor game from us there were still a number of times when you could see a better team would have opened them up. You wouldn't particularly want any of their back 4 + keeper in the Premier League. They aren't going to focus the defence once they go up and so it will likely be rinse and repeat.

Burnley have made a decent fist of it, a bit like us - no one likes them and thinks the football is shit, not sure how long they can keep pulling it off though. Gouranga. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/ibnJJzaA6ZhfTOIekEAf.gif)

Was watching Norwich on MoTD Saturday night & thought how boring it must be being a Norwich fan. Yeah I get they get to have a promotion party every other season but do they actually even celebrate getting promotion these days as they know the following season they'll get relegated again!
I mean during the summer transfer window following a promotion they are only ever going to be able to attract a certain calibre of player as anyone half decent knows they'll be going there for a relegation battle!
I know other people may have differing views on the yo-yo model & some may wish we were a WBA or Norwich styled team in that respect. But the last 2x Prem seasons aside, I actually liked the way Stoke attacked the Prem & as the seasons rolled by we were definitely as established as any other team in there were at that time were.
Ultimately being such an established Premier League team for such a continued period was probably our biggest downfall when it came to bouncing back after relegation. We had a squad full of high paid so called 'top class' players who were literally stuck with a now Championship club, Shakiri the only real exception.
When WBA & Norwich keep yo-yo'ing between the leagues they always re-enter the Championship with a nucleus of battle hardened pro's who know what the Champos all about. Our lot were literally rabbit in the headlight mentality & not one signing in them initial transfer windows under Rowett were ever going to change our DNA in that respect.
Still, I'd rather have had the 10 years in the Premier League we had & all that went with that at the time including FA Final & Europa League adventure than constantly morphing between the 2x leagues & always scrapping for Premier League survival.. Like WBA & Norwich are constantly doing.

In reality, if it was us, there'd be an ongoing angry inquest to discover why We couldn't stay up and establish ourselves Establish ourselves as what? A mid table premier league team? Not winning anything, no excitement, season over in January after we’re knocked out of both cups. Can’t get anywhere near the top 6 but won’t go down.. that’s boring and pointless. I’d prefer keep going up and down like the others at least it’s more fun

Who’s the winner, a club who gains promotion to the promised land only to suffer relegation or a premier league club that is steadily mid table with the possibility of a decent cup run and a occasional jaunt into Europe ? Without the backing of Bet365 Stoke City would possibly be bankrupt with the possibility that the club could even exist, that’s a lot to show for a decade in the premier league. Whilst the so called yo-yo clubs are constantly banking the prize money for promotion and all the that goes with it, and then as a added bonus they have the cushion of parachute payments , By establishing yourself in the premier league you are just placing your neck in the noose, you spend to survive and the longer you survive the more you spend !

Norwich wolves and one more for me. Wolves were excellent yesterday despite the loss, if they can play like that for most of the season I think they'll finish in the top half, they were very unlucky not to take anything from the game.
Norwich, Burnley, and Southampton/Palace for me. I'd like Norwich to stay up though.

Wolves have played well in all 3 games and had little luck. If Traore coukd finish he would be a £70 million player As long as they keep Dyche, Burnley will probably stay up though it does seem to be getting closer each season I reckon 3 from the 3 that went up, Palace and possibly Newcastle. Again I feel Bruce has enough about him to keep them up though
