It was a fabulous goal and I agree with a couple of the other posters that I can't recall a slicker goal than that in all the years I've been watching Stoke. Just amazing.
Not mentioned on this thread but after watching it countless times, I was bloody impressed with one of their midfielders who ran back all through the move and tackled Tymon just as he cracked it home. Who was he? Whoever he was, he certainly deserves a mention for his worthy efforts.
OS.

I'll take stuff like that all year please.
This team just decided right then and there, "Right that's enough, it's time we had a goal!" The "ghosting" on that final cross is pure porn. But the build up...what is THAT sorcery?
Gotta go watch it an 11th time...for personal reasons.

And "The Onlooker" wonders why certain posters dig other posters out. Here we have a thread about a beautiful goal and the usual suspects are using it to lay into our Captain. Exactly. Can we lay off Joe for 5 minutes?

Having watched the shite we have for so long, imagine my surprise when my 11 year old daughter, erasuregirl, on about 64 mins, suddenly became unwell, crying and in agony.
I walked her to the concourse, heard the cheer and had to take her to sit in the car.
She’s ok btw, she was very poorly last night.
And I think I showed her my affection for her isn’t rivalled even by football, but I’m a little bit devastated to miss such a special goal!!

Fabulous goal and gets better every time I watch it “but” if Tymon hadn’t had shot he had absolutely no player to pick out in the middle who’d made space for himself that’s why we need that CF who gambles and makes his own space. Christ. Can you do a review of Carlos Alberto's goal in 1970 World Cup final and point out why I shouldn't enjoy that?

Ermm if you watch Brown was steaming in fast in the middle and would have tapped in a strong parry by the goalie.

Haven't watched 'Goals on Sunday' for years as it used to take about 3 hours. Whatever the fuck it is now on SSN basically had the highlight from the instant it left Smith's foot and ended with the ball still moving in the net with the scant praise of 'Well worked' being about all they could muster.

Only on here some someone complain that there was no one to follow it up if the keeper had saved it

Fletcher was on the 6 yard line and 3 others were unmarked around the penalty spot ready for a cut back

I don't care what anyone says you'll be hard pressed to find another goal scored this season where 10 of the 11 players are directly involved from start to finish without any of the opposition players touching the ball ....apart from their keeper who got a hand to Tymon's shot 😉

That's a really bizarre comment considering what the forwards contributed to the goal. They can't be everywhere! and if they were where you say they should have been, then there wouldn't have been a move to be on the end of!!! As said before, its factually incorrect. Brown heads straight for the 6 yard line....and makes it!

Just magnificent. When smith put the ball in, it looked like the mechanics of a clock all moving in perfect harmony, before the hourly bell struck for the goal. Im surprised you say that pal as you usually spend most of your time slagging Smith off M

I gave praise as the football so far this season has been excellent and Smith is part of that. If I "slag" players off, like many have on this forum, it's because they have been piss poor and deserve some berating, cos we have carried too many passengers in the last few seasons. If any of those passengers have stepped up and been counted towards this positive change then they deserve the inevitable plaudits.
