Possession with purpose. Not possession for the sake of it like the shit that late Hughes and Rowett dished up.

I will now remain seated a bit longer. so as not to betray to the general public how excited I am to see ball-movement like that!

We’re absolutely fucking mustard. Reminds me of when your namesake was gliding across the pitch for us, torching anyone who tried to stop him.

have to say that passage of play was brilliant. But Swansea were standing off us alot and letting us play that way, any team pressing us will not give us that amount of time on the ball. Still good to watch though.

That's one of the best periods of possession by a Caampionship team I've seen since Leeds were in the division - absolutely fantastic!

Wonder if their manager had gone for a piss at this point, as he didn’t seem to think there was much difference between the teams.

I counted 31 passes that led up to the shot. Someone tell me I miscounted and it was more Gouranga.

In fairness in the first 15mins the speed of recirculation was awesome on the high press. The link up play was one touch and really great, Tymon especially. They were 3:0 up by this point and making Swansea chase shadows

Hang about now - we don’t wanna start playing like some whimpy whingy, faffy-passy Arsenoool now do we?!?
Although, tbf not really the same - at least our tippy tappy ended in an actual decent chance on goal!

Still good to watch though. I actually think that our early pressing, first 10-15 stunned the Welsh fuckers! They had never seen that from a Stoke side. Their manager for me is out of his depth anyway, 5th or 6th choice I think he was. A joy to watch, these were play off finalists last season, diving their way to Wembley with the help of 10-12 penalties from memory. Us and them are heading in opposite directions.

I can hear the fans round me getting very agitated that we play it back behind the halfway line from an attacking position but that shows perfectly how that works as long as it isn't played back to a centre half who just lumps it up and turns the ball over. Pull the opposition out of the penalty area, create space then hit them with an accurate pass.
So nice to see all 11 players (I include Bursik although he didn't feature in that particular move) comfortable to receive the ball and not panic as if it's a hot potato, looking to pass to a team mate along the ground. Most of all I was pleased to see players pass and move to receive a return ball, something which has been sadly lacking in recent years.

That was great; however, why have we waited 3 years to see that kind of entertainment. Swansea was totally demoralised by then and we could kept the ball day .

Possession with purpose. Not possession for the sake of it like the shit that late Hughes and Rowett dished up. This. Most of those passes were in the final third. Even when we worked it back, it was moved forward again quickly. This is really tough to do though. It needs a stack of things to happen including players looking for positive passes, team mates making themselves available and being confident and capable of taking the ball with the opposition close to them. Most of all it needs the players to want to play this type of football. All of this isn’t an accident. It is a consequence of hard work in training where the players buy into the style of football the manager wants to play. In this case press, pass and play. The key is to sustain this. We’ve been here before… Stokealona. November - December 2015. When we played heavenly football but then reverted to, let’s say, less than heavenly football.
