Before Tymon's performance on Tuesday, yes.
Having seen that, though, can't see it with Doughty waiting in the wings and LWB being his only route into the team too.
And MON seems to have been pretty clear that he's not looking in that position and said we were "fine" there

No no no, we have plenty of cover left side, not a priority at all. RWB, midfield and possibly a Fletcher cover striker.

It's hardly a priority, is it, with Alfie and Tymon doing the business.
I'm thinking a fourth option striker is the principal requirement to give us cover / competition up to Christmastime.

I dont get the love for RND. I always thought he was a liability. Too rash. There is a player in there though but he needs alot of work. Id rather work on Tymon and Doughty.

If he's cheap then I'd sign him to give us more options (should we revert to a back 4), he's a better player than Fox at LB, and before the performance against Swansea I'd have preferred RND to Tymon at LWB. It's up to Tymon to make that position his own, play like he did the other night and we'll have no need for another LWB.
RWB/RB should be the priority, we have no alternative to Smith.

Started well but his sending off seemed to lead to a change in his approach and he was never the same when he was trying to curb his aggression. Too expensive to buy and I can't imagine Sheffield Utd wanting to loan him to another Championship club at the moment. So no is my answer.

One of the reasons we got into this mess was through collecting players we didn't need.
We've got Fox, Tymon and Doughty we do not need another left sided player unless we are moving one of the above out.
A right sided player and midfielder are much more of a priority.

As recently as Saturday's interview with Nigel Johnson, he definitely suggested it was just midfield, right wing-back and striker on the list.
NIGE: "If you could add one player, where would you add?"
MON : "Well, hopefully we'll have more than one, first of all!"
"I think we need something in the middle of the pitch , I still think we need an option in midfield"
"And whether we need an option, as we've talked about, on the right hand side, and possibly another option down the middle - so that's where our focus is at the minute"
"We're fine at the back and we're fine down the left - so those are the key areas for us"

I d say definitely!
Great player - very quick, also have a motive for getting him back - I purchased his signed match worn shirt from the game he scored in from Stoke City FC.....and I may be inclined to get it framed.
Was a good worked goal as well.

With options in the U23s too I’m quite happy with the squad as it is if Coates is good enough to fill in for Smith if MON doesn’t want to tweak the formation to fit Ince in.

I would at the beginning of the window, but I don’t see the need right now. We could always wait 6 months for him to stay 3rd choice there and get him on the cheap?
I think he’s a decent blood and thunder left back, but it’s now one position we don’t need. He would be joint first choice in a back four alongside Fox who is the better defender. In a wingback system, we have Doughty (and Tymon) so why bring in another when funds should be allocated elsewhere?

Just look at that and it's obvious why MON's talking about the positions he is. I like Nozzer but think the manager's got the right priorities. Until this season we'd only looked good 4-2-3-1 and then I'd see RND as an option. |
