Just in case you don't know the FA have made an official approach for Jose Mourinho it's about time if you ask me, he is the right man for the job in my opinion. I would love an English manager, but the sad reality of it is, that Foreign managers are better at the moment, capello, lippi, mourinho are all excellent candidates with proven success, were as in england, i just don't think there is an English manager jumping out to be a excellent candidate. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7132161.stmi hope this isn't going to be my first wheeling.....

There's no English manager up to the job. Mourinho wouldn't be my forst choice BUT he wouldn't be a bad appointment at all.

My concern is that Mourinho has only declared interest in the England job in order to smoke out other available positions.
I'd still go for Redknapp, Shearer & Adams. What would motivate a man to manage another country? Money, and we need more than that IKHO to get things right.

Dixie - I disagree -
ego will drive Mourunho not money. no one pays more than Abramovich,if he just wanted money he would have just done what he was told & taken the roubles.
Mourinho will want to manage his country of course but I think he would love the England job regardless of money
The side desperatly needs - amongst other things - some passion & Shearer would be the last person to install that.

Yes he's driven by ego and what job in the world feeds an ego more than managing England?

Name an Englishman up to it Eddy? Would you rather we had someone inferior for the sake of them being English?
I'm not convinved Mourinho wants the England job. He loves club football, can't see him wanting a job where competitive matches are only played sporadically.

Mourinho has got to be my choice after years of the FAs yes men. I just fear the fa will be scared of appointing Mourinho because of his no-nonsense, out spoken attitude

Does that mean we can start the Mourinho out campaign or does he first have to be officially appointed.
What type of fruit/vegetable would be appropriate ?

Could have sworn they gave the job to an Englishman in a piss poor group previously
Surely I dreamt it
The last non English coach was a disaster at the whole qualifying thing!!!!!!
Oh No -maybe the English Xenophobia taking over those poor individuals who believe an English coach is capable of glory

Frankly we would be lucky to get Mourinho.
I've never really understood this idea that England need an English coach. It seems to just play into the extremely near-sighted views about the world that some England fans seem to have.
Yes, it would be great if England had a world class coach ready to take over for a purely All English feeling but I really don't care if the coach is Asian, Chinese or fucking Martian, as long as they can pick a system and get our excuse of a national side to stick to it.
I don't think anyone would turn their nose up at Lippi, given that he's won the fucking title before. And I'd love Mourinho if only because if it was all really a problem with the FA, he'd leak it within weeks of being there.

Pulis has been ignored probably because he's Welsh.
