Ventured up to castle (first time in a year and a half) after Stoke yesterday, what a mistake that was. The only bars letting in at midnight were Yates' and Kiln which had massive queues (fuck that) so we decided to head to the new Shalimar for a curry. They'd stopped serving at ten past 12! It's like the 1950s.
The hospitality industry kept saying how much lockdown had affected them but then they don't want to keep their doors open after midnight when we're back to normal? Make your minds up!
Was impressed by Bloom next to 'spoons though. That's the sort of venue you get in a decent city!

Went to the crafty lion after the wolves game and what a mistake that was.
The Bass was sour which tells you nobody drinks cask ales in there.
It's about as much a craft beer bar as my arse.

The bull and bush has equally gone down the pan as well since lockdown. Some fancy refit has ruined the place to another characterless yuppie bar. No bass on, in fact no ale on tap at all. Dire times indeed. If it ain't got ale being pulled from beer engines it's not even a pub. Yuppie bar sounds appropriate.

I went in, stayed for about 30 seconds when I saw the lad behind the bar was running around like a loon trying to serve everyone. Went the Staff of Life instead. Best pub in Stoke by a country mile. I've said this on here before but I can't stand the staff of life. Full of 'lads' who think they are the bollocks (when the reality is they're wank if 1) they haven't had an ale or 2) they aren't in about a group of 30 Most pubs down Stoke have "lads" wouldn't put me off, the landlord is a topman too

My arse smells like most craft beer. Get with the times maaan It’s a fad that’ll pass hopefully 😂 Top knots, beards and no shoes, the uniform of the new age craft beer drinking hipster. Each to their own tho in all fairness, some blaze their own trail while others follow the crowd 😉

It drives me mental trying to get a drink at the ground.
I don't care who is responsible, it's not rocket science to double the bar staff, thereby taking more money, and reducing waiting times.
It is basic business.

It is basic business. Pubs are the same, I went to an unspecified pub in Caverswall on a Sunday the other week and it was table service on a blazing hot day. About 40 people sat outside and one young girl working who said she’d only been there a week. 40 minutes I waited for a pint. To be fair an army of bar staff descended after an hour but it’s just basic planning. Big pub, hot weekend equals busy🤷🏻♂️

Could be a decent pub but wasted in it’s current location
Seen some decent bands in there. Black apples
Also been the only people in there plenty of times. Fuck knows how it’s kept going.

Tens of thousands of vacancies in the retail and hospitality sector up and down the country, some venues are really struggling…..
