On the same subject, in the ground, blocks 29/30 at the bar there are 4 till points, but only 2 people? Barmy, either pay more wages Scholes or get vending machines in. The two girls were run ragged, v Villa the person pulling draught had loads ready pulled, today? standing hands on hips waiting for an order. Poor Stoke

Pretty sure a catering company runs all the bars and food places so the staffing will be down to them.

Lots of hospitality venues, along with other sectors of the economy, are struggling to get staff, largely thanks to Brexit.

The bull and bush has equally gone down the pan as well since lockdown. Some fancy refit has ruined the place to another characterless yuppie bar. No bass on, in fact no ale on tap at all. Dire times indeed.

Dire times indeed. Looked around and couldn't see you today, didn't hear you either! Were you that pissed, lost your voice, did you not bother going (unlikely) or have you moved seat? Wasn't quite the same not hearing our booming comments behind me Gouranga.

I went in, stayed for about 30 seconds when I saw the lad behind the bar was running around like a loon trying to serve everyone.
Went the Staff of Life instead. Best pub in Stoke by a country mile.

Am intrigued now despite having no idea where it is but am in the market for a rare Tree Loris

I've said this on here before but I can't stand the staff of life. Full of 'lads' who think they are the bollocks (when the reality is they're wank if 1) they haven't had an ale or 2) they aren't in about a group of 30

Absolute shambles. Before the game they couldn’t change a barrel either. At HT it was practically impossible with people pushing and no semblance of a queue. Watched a bloke drop a pint because he couldn’t get past people after he’d been served so decided to go without. 17 months and they’ve managed to somehow make it worse.

Scholes employs the bar staff of course. I take it that wasn't a serious comment The club might not directly employ the bar staff or run the bar operation but he’s the CEO. he’s ultimately responsible for the smooth operation of the club, including the above. It’s his job and he’s not very good at it.

Usual regulars in The Bull. However, the sweatbox bar, cheesey music blaring outside (Hot Chocolate and ABBA!) and way too many tables from the covid/Euros setup on top of each other outside means I'll probably look elsewhere.
Also dealt with The Crafty Lion solo barman today. Christ! When we eventually got served by the poor bloke serving Stokes biggest bar on his own I asked him who had let him down or who was due in. His response, "Nobody, I've been put in on my own". The owners should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. That lad could have easily walked and dare say there wouldn't have been much left of your fancy new Brooklyn Lager light, pine bar or daft bar stools.
To be honest, today felt like an away game wandering from pub to pub, trying to find a bar or pub that could deal with a crowd. First time I've felt like that from memory and I'm 41. Even Spoons had people queueing!

Even Spoons had people queueing! That really is piss poor. The place was guaranteed to be busy not only due to matchday, but also the fact it has had a complete refurbishment job on it. Hopefully they'll learn from it. I certainly won't be going back in if they don't have at least two people serving.
