The first XI looks decent even with Allen and Smith in.
It’s the rest after that will hamper any play off push.

I don't tend to hold much store by what The Grauniad has to say but their sports coverage is pretty decent.

Running goalie You joke - one Derby fan last night said he'd heard one of their keepers was getting some practice in training playing in midfield! As for us, we are still 3-4 bodies light, but if we get the right ones in before the window shuts, who knows?

They have Bursik singled out as one to look out for.
"Joe Bursik, 21 Stoke City The goalkeeper, signed from AFC Wimbledon four years ago, has earned his stripes on loan. After spells at AFC Telford, Accrington, Doncaster and impressive stints at Peterborough and Lincoln last season, he is eyeing the No 1 jersey. Made his England Under-21s debut last November."
It's a pretty threadbare article truthfully and most I've read pit us around 9th/10th.

They don't really make the case for us do they?
We spent last season from the Spurs League Cup defeat in December onwards more or less in free fall.
Only the back to back wins in Feb against Luton and Sheff Wed saved us from a very tense finish and then a last day win in a dead rubber at Bournemouth put a slight gloss on it all.
Overall December onwards was a horror show, even the manager had given up, declaring us 'running on empty' after each and every failed attempt to actually win a game.
Well perhaps something has changed but we sure as shit need to get out of the starters blocks this time and build some belief and that precious commodity that has thus far eluded us MOMENTUM!

We've had a good window so far, a couple of players had full pre seasons after injuries last year and we look a decent enough outfit at the present time.Hopefully more to come. I can understand the Reading comments in the Guardian as have their hands tied and you can never look too much into the first game.

Hopefully the Grauniad is spot on. Most other sources (442 football_365 etc have us between 8-10). It's almost impossible to predict the championship though.
If MON gets his top picks for the next 2 to 3 signings I am going for top 6 as the squad will be pretty strong then.
Gooaaannnnn Stoke

It’s a difficult one because I’m very much in the 10th-16th camp, but this league is so tight and there’s so much variance that it would hardly be The Leicester Story Part 2 if we got some momentum going and did something special. I think it’s also fair to say there aren’t as many standout teams as recent seasons, but you’ve just got to expect the relegated sides to do well. And if we did end up top 6 it wouldn’t necessarily mean the people expecting us to finish bottom half made bad judgments either. It’s a bit of a lottery really.

Agreed, you used that magic word 'momentum', we've been without it ever since we came down, but with it in a league where you can't put a sliver of paper between most teams anything is possible!

A mate of mine fancies the most ugly of women after a few, and that's when he knows it's time to go home. Have mate the same. 6 foot 5 Leeds fan but he fancies them sober. The bigger the better for him. Oddly we never fight over the ladeez. There are villages outside of Leeds smaller than some of the women he chases

And tbh I don't like Fox at CB at all and would even play Chester to alleviate that. So Chester Souttar Wilmot would be preferable. Give me this though every day of the week: Bursik Smith Souttar Wilmot Fox Allen Clucas Brown Powell Doughty Fletcher Just a shame with that one that Brown plays tbh. Add Campbell into that and it's a nice team. Add a good right back and DM and it's a very good side.

We are unlikely to see it and I can only hope this season we will finally see why MON talked himself out of 4231 each time it worked.
