Could we sign these players without selling Collins? Answer, you and I don't know. I’d rather we had kept Collins 😂 Even then getting 12m in and spunking 5.5m on this lad seems particularly daft. I'm on about all the signings tbh. I think we sold/sacrificed Collins to fund our whole summer business.. let's see how successful it'll be.

All this begs the question... Why the fuck have we not given Powell a new chuffing contract yet 🤔 This should be number 1 priority How many times! We have probably offered him 20 contracts to sign but if he doesn't want to sign them there's not a lot we can do about it.

£5.5m would be classic us. However much we pay I fancy him to be a useful player for us, a target-man who can actually play football. Not that prolific but he works hard and has some quality, I think it's a good signing. Not to compare the two but I thought you were describing Lee Gregory there.

He’s scored a goal every 222 minutes at Championship level.
For comparison:
Campbell: One per 172 Carroll: One per 182 Surridge: One per 222 Fletcher: One per 223 Afobe: One per 225 Vokes: One per 236 Gregory: One per 313 Brown: One per 722
Seems a decent signing based on that.

There's a bit of Ivan Drago about him isn't there?
Also a bit of Vanilla Ice.

This won't be popular but I'd have given Lee Gregory more games honestly. Though I wouldn't really consider him a targetman in the same sense, Surridge is a big bastard at 6"3.

He had a pretty good season at Swansea 19/20. He was used as a second half sub where he scored 7 goals - and only started 10 games (3 starts in Cup where he scored 3)
he scored 2 from in the 7 Championship starts and 2 from the 13 sub appearances where he was mainly given a run out for around 10-15 minutes.
Could be he just needs an arm around and some game time.
He can play left and ring wing too.

I agree, I liked Gregory - I thought he was good in the air for his height and he was brilliant at bringing the ball down with his chest.

How reliable is this 5.5M fee? Their version of Pete Smith plus one of the main Sky Sports reporters who covers Bmouth. So that certainly seems to be the headline figure - but hopefully it's a much lower base figure with oodles of add-ons

How reliable is this 5.5M fee? Mark McAdam covers games for Sky and I think he’s covered quite a few Bournemouth games in his time and he’s saying it’s that. I’d hazard a guess that will be the total package based on promotion, goals and appearances

Christ , some of the comments on here, the guy is young, tall, mobile, has been captain for them in a few pre season friendlies, and more importantly, he wants to play for Stoke and has a point to prove, rather than sit on the bench, if he signs, then I for one will give him all my support

After reading The Athletic article he's certainly hungry to get regular games and kick on - much rather that than sign somebody over the hill looking for his last payday.
