Anyone had dealings using the council pest control to clear a wasps nest? Got my doubts as 1, they dont access lofts and 2 its up in the eaves meaning an 8 man job plus scaffolding 🤣 Anyone any idea of cost, just picking one off the net may be best I think.

Check yor House insurance policy there may be a chance you are covered.
Ensure removal is done by an expert as the wasps will often try and return. I had one removed once and the guy who did it said he would return for no charge if the wasps returned.

a good fire is what you need, make sure you slather yourself up in norpak low salt from aldi as that stops them attacking you, wear as few clothes as possible and get up your ladder, set a fire beneath them with plenty of newspaper soaked in an accelerant and a good fuel, some aged oak should be fine, then as your all greasy you can slide down your ladder super quick and admire your handy work as the nest is burnt to a crisp!

Exactly what I was going to suggest🤣

I had a wasps nest once in a recycling bin where I dumped my grass cuttings, Idiot neighbour at the time poured some paint thinners in the bin then lobbed a match in then put the lid back on and assured me “job done”.
Many hours and many, many beers later we thought it fit to throw the recycling bin into someone’s skip down the road.
Next morning there was a knock on my door and the bloke asked if I’d seen anyone dicking about as when they’d gone to bed some idiot had set fire to their skip.. replied that no I hadn’t and tutted shaking my head in disbelief not realising he’d followed the drag lines of the bin from his skip to my driveway.
Don’t think he spoke to me afterwards especially as I told everyone in the street his was name was Dave and it really annoyed him more so as his name was John.

A proper British story to warm the cockles. Love it😀

My grandad did a wasps nest with about a litre of petrol in the middle of the night. A lot cheaper than phoning around.

Depends on the size, I had one in the loft so fire not really an option. I got a couple of cans of that foam wasp nest spray (don't run out whatever happens get more than you need) Approached carefully and covered it in foam then closed the hatch and got out. I had 3 Henry hoovers full of the dead ones and the nest in pristine nick, just put it in a bin liner and brought it out for the kids to look at. It was fascinating to look at and amazingly beautiful.
Now is a really good time to get it done as soon as the Queen stops giving the drones her sugary love potion the bastards come divebombing your beefburgers at the bbq.(usually August) Mine was probably about 3ft x 4ft. Anything significantly bigger and I'd probably give it a miss. All advice comes with a no blame guarantee.

The window cleaner noticed them today, only a few entering under the pvc soffit. Best get at it now before it grows.
