People need to get used to streams being phased out. Most clubs haven't had fans through the doors since March 2020 and will be desperate to get people in and spending money - there's no way they're going to keep offering a way to watch games with no opportunity to upsell. For those using tonight as evidence of how 'badly run' we are: the club don't control streams at away grounds, tonight's game is 25 mins up the A500 at a L1 club, and the proceeds from are going to charity... in what world was there ever going to be a stream? This one.....
"www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-pre-season-crewe-5676457 Supporters who have a MyStoke account with the club will be able to follow the game live from the Stoke City+ channel."
Anything else I can help you with?

How close is this to Crewe's first XI? Front 3 probably will be their starting 3. Defence and midfield is virtually 2nd string

I'm so close to pouring a cold one and getting straight on the phone to the EFL to call the season off, and just send the trophy straight to us.
So close.

[br Yeah not quite the right way of thinking progressively about technology, its a charity game and I would have chucked money in to watch a stream. I’ve been watching Stoke every week for the past 4-5 years on a stream. The issue is the club couldnt pull a decent media cable out their arse and so none of my money ends up where it should be and at the club.

I'd agree with everything you say mate but these are not normal times, one day into the lifting of restrictions, many still not sure of what they feel about returning and uncertainty even now about the situation, I don't think it would too much to think there maybe a stream, it's a sort of local derby and charity match and as said above by some they'd happily pay towards the cause.

It’s pretty simple really, everyone who is there tonight would be there anyway weather there was a stream or not. If they had produced a steam and charged £5 for it, I’m sure there’d have been at least a couple of thousand people taking up the option, therefore generating another £10k or so for what it a very good cause. Agree that the majority there tonight would have gone, regardless of a stream being available, but I think a couple of thousand of streams purchased on top of that is very optimistic. That's the sort of numbers we'll get through the doors for home games against Wolves and Villa... just can't see a preseason game against L1 opposition generating that sort of interest. As for the money they could have generated from a stream: 1. Stream would have had to have cost the same as a ticket, otherwise where's the incentive for fans (Stoke and Crewe) to actually go? 2. It relies on people actually buying the streams. We had fans refusing to pay for the official streams last year when it was one of the club's only sources of income, so why would those same people bother to put their hands in their pockets when no doubt some unscrupulous type would be along to offer a snide stream for free or a couple of quid?

I doubt the club get much from those stream funds. If anything I have a suspicion. iFollow is across the board service that (as far as I’m aware) acts as a meddle man to selling the game oversees. They stepped in and opened it further with covid. Our club has the money and as fans in the modern day and age, we deserve and should expect no less than the club being at the fore front of capturing our imagination (and inadvertently our wallets). Other teams in the Champ already do a lot more for their online fan communities than we do ours and yet the cost is the same.

A stream where the proceeds were paid to the lad’s fund Not all supporters live in Stoke and are only 25 mins from the ground See my answer to ChuckyRocky re: streams going towards the fund. As for not all fans living in Stoke - sometimes circumstances (work, travel practicalities, prior commitments) mean you just can't go. Same as it's always been.

Oh yeah, agree that the lack of live commentary on the site is bad. I thought you were referring to there being no stream available.
