Kay and Steve who run the Boatcake boat that many know serve oatcakes and more on matchdays by the Brit, and often up at Westport Lake are sadly selling the boat as Kay has sustained an injury rendering her partially paralysed in one arm. The business needs them both working together and that just isnt possible anymore. I myself will miss them a great deal. They are just good folk, happy and helpful, and Stokies! Their legendary oatcakes are part of the matchday experience for many and I only hope someone else may take up the reins and buy the boat from them. GOOD LUCK KAY AND STEVE YOU OWD MUCKERS!

Hope whoever buys it from them can keep up the good work

Blimey, the list of 'things to do within a half mile radius of the Bet365' just got even shorter.
Visit a car show room Drop off a broken toaster at the recycling centre Put a donation in a charity box Anything else...?
Got to love these 'out of town' stadiums!

Visit a car show room Drop off a broken toaster at the recycling centre Make a donation to a charity collector Anything else... Got to love these 'out of town' stadiums! Before the luxury of car dealships, i recall the number one thing done around the stadium was throwing rocks and debris at away fans, and the occasional chasing of away fans armed with a plank of wood that was randomly lying about. Car dealerships have reduced this activity to zero by selfishly redeveloping that land. ππ

Agree - to truly benefit a community, stadiums need to be located in the heart of the town, not out in a cow-pasture or wasteland.

Seems to have worked really well (and Qld actually got a win in the last State of Origin game last night on the Gold Coast)

Like much of the wrongs done to Staffordshire blame St Modwins. The way they manipulated the naives of stoke council is particularly sinister.
Maybe the proposed new transport link from stoke station will make the Boatcake a moveable feast?!

Whatwas near the old ground? Some terraced houses, a pet shop, a sweet shop? It's not 1936.

Rebuild the stadium in Hanley Town centre. Lots of birds killed with one massive stone. Already been done.....The Old Recreation Ground (Port Vale) Twas a bit of a throwaway comment really. But actually it did get me thinking. Hanley is a total mess and I really don't see how it will reverse its fortunes without something happening on a rather massive scale. Shops and the high-street are in terminal decline that seemingly will not be arrested with amazon taking over the world. Maybe a mass compulsory purchase sweep by the local authority to identify a location big enough for a stadium and rebuild the city centre around it with a whole new vision as to how the city centre should be. I am no planner but I am sure if you got some experts on board they could come up with something exciting and potentially viable. I am probably talking shyte but I never really hear of anything positive coming from the council.

Like the suggestion! (Stadium in the city centre) Fessy Park? Quite a bit of space there so the Coates family could have everything in close proximity?

Like the suggestion! (Stadium in the city centre) Fessy Park? Quite a bit of space there so the Coates family could have everything in close proximity? Unless you can get the council to make Stoke the City Centre (as it should be) then that idea can fuck right off.
