Don't think there's much doubt it will be Allen. He was MON's first captain until he did his achilles.

I'd give it Souttar.

Not quite yet. Let him start the season and learn the partnerships, concentrate on his game. Soon though

That's a good point but even so, Souttar has had one full season at Championship level, no point putting extra responsibility on him.just yet when we don't need too imo. it's easy saying who should be captain as a supporter anyway, it's the manager that works with the group every day though and sees who the natural leaders are

If he stays I think it would be Allen.

Fox is a sound choice, think he's going to be a big player this season, dark horse maybe Jordan Thompson. That would be a very dark horse indeed and Fox would make little sense too.

He listed Chester, Allen , Clucas, Batth and Fletcher as candidates - but it was Chester that he listed first. Dunno if that means anything

Wouldn't give it Souttar just yet, let him concentrate on his game This. He has almost no experience, just because shawcross did it doesn’t mean they’re the same type of ‘leader’. I’d rather he focus on continuing to improve

If he stays I think it would be Allen. Why is this a question, shawcross hardly featured and Allen when he played did a decent job from what I saw. I’d look at Powell if it changes. He carried us at times and has the right mettle IMO

Souttar for me, he leads by example with consistency, and he's the one defender that should be the first name on the team sheet

I can't see why people would want Allen.
He's got no leadership qualities at all.

I can't see why people would want Allen. He's got no leadership qualities at all. Was Shawcross ever vocal on the pitch though. He never looked like a leader when we played and was very quiet for a Captain, but he must have had some qualities that weren’t obvious to be chosen.

Not so sure. He's a Belfast lad and made captain in his home city. I think Allen also. Experienced and top level and International experience.

Why? Just a friendly and a bit of sentimentality. He clearly rates him irrespective of this which is odd.

He listed Chester, Allen , Clucas, Batth and Fletcher as candidates - but it was Chester that he listed first. Dunno if that means anything Out of that lot you would have to hope that Clucas is the only one who is going to be a regular starter!! Hopefully Wilmot and Souttar will be the two centre-halves, we will bring in a holding mid to do the donkey work in front of a back 4 and give Clucas a bit more licence to push forward, and hopefully a Striker whos an upgrade on an injury prone and, I fear from the end of last season, past it Fletcher. We all know it would have been Mikel if he had stayed though!
