After a week of failures with trying to form a new government in Sweden, the whole nation is holding its breath. 349 votes and it's as even as it could be. 175-174 or 174-175. All depends on what the muqwump, former V Communist party member Amineh Kakanaveh, born in Torjãn in Iran decides. Will she vote yes or no. She has presented a list with eight things she requires to our current government and Prime Minister. She will be happy if 5 of them are accepted, but number 1 is an absolute must. Number 1 and 6 are very identical though. The list: 1) Stop the profit hunting in the welfare system, where billions go to risk capitalists. 2) Stop religious independent schools. 3) Remove the pension tax on pensions lower than 16000 SEK (£1280). 4) Increase the government subsidies to poorer regions and cities. 5) Evaluate the integration work and the work against oppression of honour. 6) Delete point nine in the January agreement about not to work for a profit ban in welfare. 7) Restore the defense tax (this is a state tax specifically used in a crisis (like after a war or a pandemic)). 8) Restore the taxes on real states for the billionaires. www.expressen.se/nyheter/politiska-vilden-jag-har-pratat-med-ministern/(article in Swedish) 🤠

To be decided today, they've said.
I guess it's not that much to think about really.

Another fine example why proportional representation doesn’t work

Are Sweden’s welfare system problems really caused by risk capitalists. My understanding is they are suffering from the same problem as everyone else in western societies meaning an ageing population means the cost of welfare is increasing while the working population that pays the taxes is in relative decline. The baby boomer effect in other words.

She's considered to be a marxist too extreme. A background as a child soldier and escaped the death penalty in her home country, admirer of the French revolution's slogan freedom, equality and fraternity - which was seen far too extreme obviously. Tonight I read pt 6 has got the green light. We will have to wait and see if any of the others will be accepted by the Social democrats or considered far too extreme. In Sweden real estate owners with a wealth of 100 billions(!) pay no real estate taxes, i.e no tax on that capital, but a pensioneer with a low £450 pension have a relative income tax equal or higher compared to a person who works full time. The schools mentioned above are not all private schools in general. The pt 2 is about the most extreme versions of the religious schools.

Honour related violence and oppression, child marriage, forced marriage, female genital mutilation and she also seems to be an opponent of certain religious clothing as an expression of coercion. Apparently not a popular view among some of the members of the V party. I don't know if there are any not extreme religious schools here. Our basic school's teaching plans have always been based on christianity (just like the laws), but I wouldn't call them religious.

She'll have to learn to compromise on some things if she's to influence decisions and power, but some of her ideas and ideals sound like some of the things the left in this country should be campaigning about.

It's fascinating times.
And the other thing on the news first page here now is about the IT hacker attack that affected and still is affecting so many thousands of companies. It's under investigation. Many people here have raised their voices now regarding a stop to the digital society with all its restrictions. I'll give it five years. Tops.
An update will come.

Update
We have a result:
Stefan Löfvén to continue as Prime Minister with his government (S Social Democrats with MP Green Party, with support from C Center Liberal Party plus V The Left (Communists)?
Yes: 116 (green) No: 173 (red) Neither: 60 (yellow)
Amineh Kakabaveh (The Mugwump) and Nina Lundström (from The Liberals) voted yellow. V Communists voted yellow since they have their own budget, different from The Social Democrats and MP Green Party. It was expected therefore. C voted yellow as well, since many of their proposals have been accepted by S Social Democrats.
The question this week has been if Amineh Kakabaveh will vote red or not. Surprisingly, in the end it wouldn't have had any importance since Nina Lundström on the opponent's side voted yellow as well.
Conclusion:175 is needed to change the government. The yellow votes always go to the green Yes side.
National Votings in September 2022 it is then. No national votings this September then.
What to expect? A new shaky year, according to the tv news.

When it comes to the budget - which are presented by each party this autumn, the real problems begin ... how to decide on agreements for each point, post by post, cost by cost in detail. A glimpse of why Sweden is the land of queues and why we have been the slow starters in Europe during the pandemic.

With our system a political party must get 4% of the people's votes to get into our swedish Riksdagen. Riksdagen is the place where all 349 members are, and it includes both the Government and the Opponent's. Since the alternative (M+KD+SD (Conservatives+ChristDemocrats+SwedenDemocrats) is seen as so horrible to V and C, they voted yellow. Thereby they indirectly support the current government to continue. In Sweden we go towards more votes to the extreme parties, one on each side of the spectrum, whereas the smaller parties in the middle get smaller and smaller. Atm The Liberals only get 2,7% of the votes and wouldn't even be a part of Riksdagen. For a change to take place, 175 votes are needed at least. On Friday our Prime Minister will tell what members they've picked this time for the government. Maybe a 4-3-3 and not a 4-4-2 formation? 😜

Only then would all people's votes count. Atm the two more extreme parties get totally approx 45% here, but are still not a part of any possible government. Of course they will grow then.

8) Restore the taxes on real states for the billionaires. www.expressen.se/nyheter/politiska-vilden-jag-har-pratat-med-ministern/(article in Swedish) 🤠 Me thinks she'll go the same way as Olaf Palme if she gets in upsetting billionaires.....

The words in the list is her own words and expressions to make it more powerful. I assume a real estate tax would hit on every person who owns a building of some sort. Assumably a percentage. And it could lead to higher rental costs.
