Well, he’s got two feet ( I know most people do!) and it looks like he knows how to use them. Brentford and Peterborough seem to be able to pick up these lower league players and fashion a gold pig from them- we need to take a chance with hungry low earners rather than end of career Premier League signings. That's like the opposite of what we do. We're like the spoilt child who kicks and screams for the latest games console, plays with it once before leaving it out in the garden to get soaked in the rain, whilst next doors kids get hours of enjoyment out of an Atari 2600.

I think we need someone a bit taller really, a targetman who can actually play a bit.

I think we need someone a bit taller really, a targetman who can actually play a bit. If Vokes and Gregory go won’t we need 2 strikers or 1 target man and 1 wide forward sort? We’re short up there with Matondo and Clarke gone. Fletcher Campbell Brown To cover 2 positions isn’t enough?

Agreed, Campbell and Brown are the wide forward sort and we need a competent target man to replace Gregory/Vokes... Brereton is a big lad with some pace so he'd be perfect tbh. I'd take someone like Ashley Fletcher too, not a prolific goalscorer but a decent footballer with some physicality and a good touch. Bring the wide forwards into play and provide chances for them even if their goalscoring rate was modest.

Reminds me a bit of Biggins and Thorne with the position and angles of some of those goals. Looks good, but I reckon we could turn him into half the player he is now by Christmas with the way we destroy strikers. We’re going to have to get the old sun lounger out in training if he is going to emulate the perfectly tanned one.

If Vokes and Gregory go that leaves us with just Fletcher as someone who we’re going to use purely up front. We’d be well short if we didn’t sign a striker and a right sided player. And even then Brown as third choice striker isn’t ideal.

However, some such as Imbula only have one useful foot.

Not in a million years a Prem player.

The goalkeeping in some of those clips is just awful - also isn't he a little short for a main striker - looks more like a 2nd striker to me but where would that put Campbell and Dougherty MON's system seems to be have a central targetman/link up type of striker with a wide player either side and a No10 behind Dougherty is a winger and Campbell won't be fit at the start of the seaosn

His size may be an issue if we are looking for a target man who can hold up and link up like Fletcher, didn't realise he was 5'9 but let's not come out of the summer with a non goalscoring striker, ffs.
I Keep saying it but Thomas Henry playing in Belgium looks perfect. A transfer enquiry costs nothing.
Just goes to show what the fans want though, a mobile player that can score goals, he doesn't have to come from Barcelona

Hes 25 and scored 29 goals in 105 ....20 last season. I wouldnt be paying anywhere near that much for someone who some have called a "late bloomer" and could be a 1 season wonder tbh He scored a reasonable amount of goals on his loans out to lower league teams when he was young. The season he signed for Southport he couldn’t score for love nor money, then he got 14 in 41 the year after. He also got 18 in 42 for Flyde. So he was scoring relatively well at a young age. Stepped up two divisions and got 8 in 33, which isn’t awful considering the jump. At the end of the day, if it wasn’t a gamble, it wouldn’t be 2 million would it? Toney was what, 7 million? Peterborough’s new striker would likely cost more now they are up. People cry out for lower league signings, then when they are linked, others are desperate to dismiss it.

The next Ivan Toney or the next Chris Greenacre? With a few exceptions, these players are playing lower league football for a reason.

Ever thought about doing motivational talks? I’d be great at it. We need better than Matondo unless we can sign him cheap like 250k and on 4K a week. He’s a project. We don’t need a project on loan.

Clarke and Matondo were both massive failures last season.

More than happy for both to come back myself Loan players have to be game changers, neither were. The best loans are the difference between mediocrity and pushing on. Neither do that. Clarke just isn’t a winger. Matondo needs a lot of coaching. We need better on loan. Like with Matondo, if we could sign Clarke cheaply then he’s worth a shot. But it’s a waste of a loan.

Aren’t loans exactly that? Projects? More senior players go out on loan because they have burned bridges etc. It’s a project to rebuild their focus and confidence. Young players go out on loan, it’s a project to develop them. The better younger players have at least 3 clubs in better positions than Stoke to go to now + Swansea and Bournemouth. So inevitably, we will be left with those that are potentially less close to the ‘real deal’.
