For all his bluster wasn't he? Favourite quote, when he was asked if he'd done any research into Peru or Iran, he looks at the camera like he's suddenly realised that that might have been not such a bad idea, and then says, "I've decided I'm going to lift the World Cup by making my own team as perfect as possible." different era. Seems to remember that Cubillas was rumoured to be their best player and no one had any knowledge outside of Panini albums unless a player was a bit special. Sorry, but I am afraid that is just not true. Anyone who watched the 1970 World Cup (i.e. millions of people), would have known about Cubillas. He was one of the stars of that tournament.

It’s the Jock’s World Cup final isn’t it. They’ll be covered in face paint screaming for freedom and will leave nothing on the pitch. The question is whether the England flowers will be up for it. Can’t see it being a classic, but it will have atmosphere. I reckon a draw or narrow England win, but wouldn’t rule out a shock defeat. So it could be a win, draw or a loss, the new Mystic Meg

I was talking re the doc, the only player remotely heard of. It was the fact that Ally MacLeod didn't seem to know about Cubillas (and certainly didn't have a plan to stop him playing) which was one of the reasons why the fans and media gave him such a hard time. It was the equivalent of a team in the 1986 World Cup not bothering to plan to try and stop Maradona when they played Argentina or a modern team not having a plan on how to deal with Ronaldo when you play Portugal. It might not work, but, you would at least make the effort.

Just watching John McGinn comparing Scotland's population with that of England. He's right of course but l can't quite imagine Ronaldo making the same comparison between the size of his country (10 million) were they up against Turkey (84 million). It’s a wank excuse. No need for Scotland to have some kind of complex about this, anyone who saw them in the sixties and seventies never questioned how good they were.

Is it a bigger game for Scotland than it is for England? I know in the day they invaded the place but they did that at tournaments anyway. I remember in Genoa 1990 ,got there the day before ROI v Romania but the place was wall to wall Scots. Wouldn't say is Scotland's cup final more than England.

There was an interview with Cubillas a few tears ago and he was asked if Peru were aware of hiw disparaging Mcleod had been about them. He said they were and it was a big motivation to them. So Mcleod spouting shyte proved very costly.

They’re plucky but England have always outnumbered them at tournaments Today’s game is the ultimate away day for them. It’s a shame the stadium won’t be full and these pathetic restrictions are in place. I’ll wager none of them are arrested for not wearing masks.

Reece James and Luke Shaw are preparing to replace Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier in the full-back positions to give England more attacking threat in wide areas. Despite Harry Maguire’s insistence he is now fit, Tyrone Mings is expected to continue partnering John Stones in the centre of defence against Scotland.

No need to rush Maguire against this standard of opposition.

What are the chances of one of them chopping into Kane's ankle in the first ten minutes?

I think it will either be that with Scotland scoring first or a straightforward 3.0 to England 1.1 is gut feeling We will beat the Czechs anyway

Decent shout I can live with those changes, I'd bring Grealish in for Mount or Foden as well as I think it's important he gets some game time before we get to the business end of the tournament and it wouldn't weaken us......

Hope so, had a small bet at that score, England to win only isn't worth the odds at 3/10 If you fancy Egland to win easily, try the handicap betting. I've had a few wins already (and a few losses). I've backed England to win with -2 goals, at 5/2. Basically I need England to win by 3 clear goals.
