Is that right? Baby Russets closing? I hadn't heard about that Yep, through ill health from one of the guys who run it unfortunately, said they just can't continue with the rigors of treatment. So very sad as they are lovely people who put everything into that place. They did something once which no restaurant ever has and sent me a personal email message thanking me for going how how they enjoyed seeing us there. Very sad to hear this, hope for future good health to him, a lovely place and lovely people.

Iβd always manage to get a table as one of the owners is a friend of a friend. Super little place and one of if not the best places to eat in Stoke based on my experiences. Another nail in the coffin for Stoke.

Great place and a big shame.
Get yourselves into Bru on the corner instead.

They've been struggling for a while because of Covid and had to borrow a lot of money, they filed to be struck off in April so knew the game was up.

Wow that Facebook post - how nice! You can tell they truly valued their customers and yeah, put everything into that place. A shame. Best wishes to those two and I hope that debt and the health scare ends up being just a "blip on the radar" for them.

The striking off aplication is for a dormant company that has never been used for trading.

The pub will re-open but will not be a Titanic pub.
The building is owned by Everards and another company is to take over the pub.
How well they do that is open to speculation but itβs a demonstration of how Stoke pubs struggle without SCFC.
When the Coates and the vampires at St Modwins moved us to an abandoned coal tip this was a predictable consequence.
If only the city council had been as bothered as they were when refusing to move the council admin to Hanley.

Tragic news, my second favourite pre match boozer (after the Black's Head in the 90s) And so much safer than being squared up to by a fellow Stoke fan, clad in Burberry, in Greenhoff's because you had a southern accent, even though you'd followed Stoke long before they were born! πππ The lad that used to run it was from London.

Of course, Danny McCoy (RIP), Cockney Ted's son, knew him from when he was a little boy. He was fine, but some of the other clientele were a little spicy!!!

Shame, although pricey, it was a good pub.
No doubt it'll open up again under a different brewery.
