Starts on 13th June and because of The Situation it's been moved from Argentina to... erm, Brazil. Original hosts Colombia having already pulled out ten days ago because of ongoing protests and social unrest. www.bbc.com/sport/football/57304063

Great tournament. I was lucky enough to be out in Brazil for the previous Copa America. Some unbelievable talent on show and the atmosphere is something else.

Is Brazil any safer than Colombia or Argentina? Supposed to be in Buenos Aires in August but not a chance. Having a right old time there with the spread amongst players etc and river Plate's team bus driver died . been terrible and getting the vaccines distributed as well so the Copa never gong to happen there

They had eleven outfield players to choose from and no goalkeeper, so they played with an injured veteran midfielder in goal, and made no substitutes - and won. Colombia have been out of the picture for a good while, the country's burning.

Did I readthat Argentina in poorer state than India re Covid? Only 1 in 20 been vaccinated or similar?

Bit confused as to how Brazil can be any better but I guess there are various factors. Brazil at least have the infrastructure in place to host a tournament of that scale at short notice.

Of course that dickbag Bolsonaro wants it in-spite of the country being on it's knees thanks to Corona.
Horrible fucking scumbag of a man.

Yep in the face of his dwindling popularity, a bit of National pride etc a bit like 78 in Argentina. Seems odd that Argentina had the tournament taken away yet Brazil has massive Covid problems. No updates on venues etc as of yet

That now 3 major tournaments Columbia have missed out on....this one, Mexico 86 was originally Columbia and finances curtailed that and Mexico stepped in late notice and I’m sure they had copa America a few years ago also but again couldn’t host it

If Covid is as rampant as reported I have to ask why is this competition going ahead at all. ?
The same question should be asked about the Olympics in Japan.
Are the authorities in self denial, or is it more to do corporate greed. ? ⚓️

Argentina are incredibly average apart from Messi, and Brazil are a good side but have lost their magic. Either way it’s been nervy and fouly.. I’d actually be pleased to see Messi win something with Arge

Happy that Argentina won, and de Paul looks a heck of player, but either the skill level isn't generally as good as I'd expect or the pitch was substandard.
