Pub Quiz Question Alert: How many times have Stoke City lost in the FA Cup to the eventual winners? I was wondering this yesterday. Do you know the answer? As well as Leicester this year, there is obviously Man City in 2011 and Arsenal in 1971. There are probably quite a few more. Chelsea 2010?

Arsenal won it in 05 after the Wayne Thomas goal didn't they. It always stuck in my head that we got knocked out by the runners up in the FA Cup and League Cup in 1988 (Liverpool and Arsenal) And the Simon Cup lost to Luton

Appreciating that 'big' is in the eye of the beholder! Stoke City, Middlesboro, Birmingham City brothers in arms with 1 League Cup win each but stuff all else. Anyone else in the frame? Brighton. Seriously ?? Blimey I didn’t realise how far we had sunk in general estimation ! .

Staggering really, nearly 160 years of history, many spent in the top league, some of the greatest players the country has ver produced playing for us and just one major trophy to show for it ☹️☹️ The most unsuccessful club in the world considering our longevity and the level at which we have played.

I'd say Birmingham. In the grand scheme of things they are a bigger club than us. Are they bollocks.

I'd say Birmingham. In the grand scheme of things they are a bigger club than us. I've never thought of Birmingham City as a big club. They seem to have been overshadowed by the likes of Villa, Wolves and West Brom. Villa have some high profile supporters in Prince William and Nigel Kennedy (who sometimes performed on stage in a Villa shirt). The composer Edward Elgar used to cycle from his Worcestershire home to watch Wolves.(Good quiz question there!)

Seriously ?? Blimey I didn’t realise how far we had sunk in general estimation ! . Sincere apologies. I read the topic title as 'the biggest clubs", not "the biggest club". No, I would not consider Brighton a bigger club than Stoke City.

Most seasons in the top flight: www.myfootballfacts.com/england_footy/football-league/seasons-in-top-flight/Based on that, you could say Stoke are the 'biggest' club not to have won the FA Cup. The second table also shows we had a good run in the Premier League. And this is an interesting fact to goad Arsenal fans with... "Arsenal were “elected” to the Top Flight in season 1919-20. They remain the only club since the formation of the Football League in 1888-89 who never earned their place on merit."

(I could still probably reel off the starting eleven of the great Spurs mid to late 60’s team !

I only know that because I know a Villa fan who believes they are one of top 4 in England with Man U Liverpool and Arsenal. He does think Lenny Henry is funny so explains a lot

Anything south and east of Brum city centre woukd be classed as Blues areas. If they ever got their shit together they could attract huge crowds

No Bigger stadium? No Better players, no definitely historically and not even currently.

I've never thought of Birmingham as a big club tbh. Even when they were last in the Premier league they rarely sold out at home games, always remember a load of empty seats.

Historically they always seem to have had similar crowds to us but remember them taking 45000 to wembley for an autoglass final. Also, theyve won 2 league cups so they have won more than us. Theres not a lot in it but potentially they could be
