When not surfing or golfing he is a stay at home Dad to some very young 'uns! I seem to recall from an interview he was one of them who just wasn't really into football at all? Didn't know anything about other teams and stuff, didn't really follow it. And certainly not interested in going into coaching or anything like that.

Clifford Carr was working for Severn Trent Water last time I saw him.
Carl Beeston - Postman although I had heard he's been quite poorly lately.
Ian Painter had a sports shop in Wombourne.
Lee Mills ran a consultancy agency in Stafford for a time but again I haven't seen or heard of him lately.

Says he was always a Stoke fan and of course liked the trappings being a pro footballer brought but aside from that he was never a fan of the training schedules & hated being away from his family so he wasn't that keen on life as a footballer in general. Think its more common than people would imagine that football to footballers is nothing more than a job & something they have a talent for

He was director of football there and came out of retirement to play for them for a couple of years. He certainly wasn't doing it for the money.

Gifton Noel-Williams was a coach at a private Christian academy for a while.
Paul Stewart set up a company that created TV adverts.
Salif Diao ran a company specialising in PR and business development.
Abdoulaye Faye resumed his role as God.
And although it no longer exists, Mama Sidibe and his wife had a patisserie!

I seem to recall from an interview he was one of them who just wasn't really into football at all? Didn't know anything about other teams and stuff, didn't really follow it. And certainly not interested in going into coaching or anything like that. This has always intrigued me - pro sports players who have no real interest in the sport they played, apart from the fact it was their job. A friend of mine played golf to a fairly high level (schoolboy tours of Europe and the US etc), but in his adult life if you asked him if he'd watched The Masters or Open, he'd look at you like you were mental, as he'd absolutely no interest the game once he'd given it up: it just happened to be something he was good at. I suppose there was some element of 'if I can't participate, why would I be interested' - to the rest of us who'd love to have the skill/ability of a good standard player, it just seems so wasteful of talent, but then I don't suppose we have to contend with the endless training, obsessive worries about injuries, paranoia about losing form or place in the side etc...

His mate was genuine & had no reason to make it up. Perhaps he was referencing to the fact he wasn't keen on the training aspect or something..
